I see a lot of Anime shows are running at 13EP?

I guess the bad economy effected Japan as well?

Looking at my streaming Q as of late on NetFlix so many shows are running at 13 episodes

Which sucks cause for example I watch Vampire of The Bund and that show clearly needed to be 26 episodes

13 just does not cut it that 13 or so is the build and the other 13 is the resolution

That 13 just leaves me with a gaping hole like feel :(

13 is just one season, they might make more, but I personally prefer shorter series they feel more refined and tightly packed even thou Baccano is only 13 episodes it's still one of the most epic animes ever(if you don't know what Baccano is for shame). Actually 13 episodes used to be just for shows that studios thought wouldn't do well, 26 episodes were for the real shows, but when Haruhi came along and showed that you can have a hugely successful series in only 13 eps, well studios started to take advantage of the single season shows, please don't quote me on this it's just what I've heard and I'm honestly not sure if it's true or not.

Actually if you have noticed,there are rarely 26 episode shows anymore, that started to decline around 2009-late 2010.

I do believe that 13 episodes are budget cuts for Japan bad ecomony and have the viewers to buy the manga series to finish the story on their own, so that the business can try to increase revenue to fix the economy.

Same goes for the U.S. economy, dubbing has become costly and doing shorting episode series to cut cost and time so that it can be released to the public as soon as possible. Also, occuring the most are these re-released of anime series in condense combo packs like the Soul Eater collection, Spice & Wolf season 1 (viridian and blu-ray), and so on.

With production and licensing becoming costly, we're are luck to get 13 episodes at all.

Sometimes, a show that's aired in seasons of 12 or 13 episodes will get more than two seasons. That makes things weird.

Zero no Tsukaima, for example, has three seasons and a total of 37 episodes. If it had been a 26 episode series, there'd be 11 less episodes. A show I've been watching recently, Sekirei, already has two seasons and will probably have a third, putting it in the same boat. In this way, the short seasons are good.

Gundam will always run a full year no matter what.

They destroyed there market base splitting up dvd from streaming and why paid when i have the net and on demand

I don't know I prefer streaming dubbed anime via on my TV on the fly with no lag

$8 is not bad for extra programs I can't get via on my cable package
so more or less it's smarter/cheaper then buying more packages via your cable provider

except i don't pay much for it since it's included in my plan with nhk, mbs, anime network and my 5tb storage and dlc channels. i paid 59.95 for all the channels and hbo and showtime...

I feel your pain, the 12/13 episode rule seems to mostly run into new shows, so if you happen to stumble across something new and exciting, the fact that it will only last a dozen episodes really grinds on me, especially when they are shows that last well into their hundreds.

not a true sequel imo... it was a bad ass side story though...

From what I can conclude in the past few years of anime experience, the majority of the shows that air for 12-13 episodes do much better than ones that go on for like 25+.
But then again, they started appearing a lot more in the past 3 years, so maybe the effect may reverse.

It is a true sequel. Its the arc right after the Yakuza arc.
