Im not understanding something

Exactly WHY is Miku from vocaloid so damn popular in the anime and hentai worlds?
You've got concerts, fan art, The ocean of light blue at cons, Miku mixing (Different chars dress as miku), Music, etc etc. Its just one 2D girl that could easily be belittled by other 2D women. Im starting to think its going to get bigger than the naruto/bleach fan base.

Maybe because she's cute? Also there's some synthesizing equipment with her, but in all honesty I thought of this before.

She's not that popular. For example, I don't even know who she is.

Maybe cuz' Miku isn't just any synthesizer or a anime character, she is a digital Idol.

first off, Miku is was the first of the new Vocaloid 2 character series. Until then, Crypton's Kaito and Meiko weren't too popular.

Miku however, managed to develope a large fanbase due to her sudden popularity at the time (mostly due to the fact that she had an actual "form" as ethil mentioned)

Luka on the other hand, was created almost 1.5 years after miku, who still has a large fanbase.


what I think is funny is that Kaito and Meiko only became popular after Miku came out.

I have been thinking this a bit too; I like Megurine the most, meaning as in the singer. She has the best singing voice in my opinion. Dunno who is most mesmerizing in the looks thou...

I'd say that the reason to why Miku has become so famous is because she's the one that has been promoted the most.
What I find interesting is who came up with the idea to try and promote one of the synthesizer as an idol.

And on another side note: From what I've noticed Miku is starting to loose popularity and give way for more of the vocaloids. If not for the other non-vocaloid characters like Neru Akita, Yowane Haku and Meiko Sakine.
