Somebody else said it but...it's obviously because of a combination of the two things brought up in this topic: the target audience and their sexual desire. If teens are the most likely to watch these series, then it makes sense to put in their age group, because most teens are probably horny for anybody in their class. Stick a teen in for one of the main characters, give them everything generically fapped to, and lo' and behold, you've got views (albeit views covered in white).

Some are, but I wish most weren't but at least they act more mature than they are. And thank God Spike isn't some tweeny bitch, he's perfect for his role.

I like badass male characters in long coats or badass battle couples. Whenever there are badass girls, the men are usually super wimpy, disproportionate to when the guys are badass.
