As for the issue at hand, I'm gonna add Interlude to the mix. It's a 3-part OVA I've recently re-watched that I believe to be fairly unknown yet quite good.

Sword of The Stranger- Action(Epic Swordfight)
Karas- Action

Also Jubei-Chan, a comedy anime but later on turned serious with epic swordfighting.
One of the best swordfighting I have ever seen in anime. Spoiler warning for the video: This is the final episode fight.

Just finished watching Nabari no O and Ima say... it lacks ninja action... After the first few episodes its watching sorta emo talk between Yoite and and the Shinra guy.

Ok, suddenly there's a surge of memories of some good anime that I have watched. Here's some which is quite old but amazing. Gotta love the 90's.

Gunsmith Cats- Gotta love the girls, I really have to watch this anime again. Rally is still sexy and hot.

Mononoke is a classic, Seto no Hanayome is a popular anime.

Ah, Tokyo Majin and Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai are definitely underappreciated anime. However, their plot development are somewhat lacking, and I feel that the second season of Tokyo Majin just kinda fell apart.

I agree. I started watching this and I must say I enjoy it quite a bit.

I've been following Hanasakeru Seishounen since spring and I must say it's considerably unknown amongst the amazing shows I've seen this year.

Some of what I could think of at the moment:
Demon Prince Enma
Requiem from the Darkness
Boogiepop Phantom
World Destruction


Random OVAs rather have a higher tendency for obscurity so it's not really all that surprising to see such shows listed here, though I agree a hundred and one percent that they're awesome.

I swear that was very popular in the fansub community when it first came out. Then someone licensed it and began to crusade against the fs groups. They were so successful that the last episode of the first series was released in such low quality that it probably turned people off from the second series, and made it that much harder for anyone to even want to watch it.

I've just about heard of all of these series, though I may not have seen them all. Looks like I have to update my queue of series to watch with some of these.

I'd like to add EVE no Jikan. Though a lot of you might have heard of it I think that it is largely ignored by the community at large.

@PD: noticed I said "in my opinion". I consider it almost on a NGE-type level where it featured some ground-breaking conventions in anime, most notable the use of jazz music in its OST amongst other things. One of Sunrise's major anime hits, and I'd be more surprised if I asked an anime otaku if he/she knew about Infinite Ryvius and the person responds with a no.
