Boogiepop is pretty famous. Maybe not mainstream kind of famous, but anyone that has looked a little further into anime (or manga for that matter) has bumped into Boogiepop. My opinion.
@PD: noticed I said "in my opinion". I consider it almost on a NGE-type level where it featured some ground-breaking conventions in anime, most notable the use of jazz music in its OST amongst other things. One of Sunrise's major anime hits, and I'd be more surprised if I asked an anime otaku if he/she knew about Infinite Ryvius and the person responds with a no.
Maybe it's the area difference. I know some otakus here who are pretty hardcore who haven't heard about it.
This is mine. I really like this but no one I know has heard of it let alone seen it. Oh and thanks requests for helping me remember the name Petopeto-san.
Mononoke is a classic, Seto no Hanayome is a popular anime.
please tell me youre version of classic isnt talking about the movie :( i'd be disappointed if youre talking about the popular movie. Sadly i forgot about that SH is liscenced.
You know what what about Oh! Edo Rocket, Cromartie High School,Nagasarete Airantou, or Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun
Random OVAs rather have a higher tendency for obscurity so it's not really all that surprising to see such shows listed here, though I agree a hundred and one percent that they're awesome.
Which is a sad truth, it seems that ova are pretty short lived and easily forgotten compared to a full series

Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun
In my opinion while Goshuushou-sama is fun to watch and have a male protagonist that is pretty cool and strong the ecchi part seems kinda forced.
Another one that I can think of...
Mnemosyne-Oh there's a topic here in Fakku, careful when you read the thread because of someone providing spoiler.
I'll agree that Busou Renking is a pretty good anime that got shunted from the spotlight. Some others I recommend are: Blue Submarine no.6, Erementar Gerad, Angel Heart, Figure 17, Ghost Hunt, Kishin Taisen Gigantic Formula, Munto, You're Under Arrest series, and a whole bunch of others. People are caught too much in the mainstream to notice the whole bunch of other anime classics that are just as good or better.
Ah, Tokyo Majin and Kono Minikuku mo Utsukushii Sekai are definitely underappreciated anime. However, their plot development are somewhat lacking, and I feel that the second season of Tokyo Majin just kinda fell apart.
I would have to agree. I kinda got lost on the second season, but the First season was worth the watch. :3

I'd like to add EVE no Jikan. Though a lot of you might have heard of it I think that it is largely ignored by the community at large.
I fell in love with that anime! The art style was so clean and beautiful. Yet you are right, the series was majorly ignored!

Yes, :D then it is a classic. Besides everyone should know the movie anyway
Kino no Tabi. Partially because that anime depends on your taste. It's a more obscure ones. It never had much of a push commercially and it's hard to find info about it but it is one of my favorite animes. It has that style similar to Shinkai's works.
Unfortunately, each episode was only about 12 minutes long (including OP&ED). There were 15 episodes in all. In addition to BPS, I'd also include Goshuushou-sama Ninomiya-kun and Uninhabited planet survive.
