i wonder what the plot line is about? :shock:

Possibly redoing the whole thing from the ground up since a lot of people complained the anime diverged from the manga too much.

Another option is a new story centered around Al working for the state leaving Edward on the other side trying to find his way back.

Oh yeah, it's been a while since I saw the movie. I guess the new show will probably be them working on a way to get back by exploring rockets (like in the movie) or just redoing the whole thing like Hellsing Ultimate.

It'll be hard to top the original. Best bet is a Hellsing Ultimate style remake that stays true to the manga the whole way though in it's entirety.

I did mention the confirmation of FMA season 2 in my thread: https://www.fakku.net/viewtopic.php?t=10416 if you bothered to look. And since the anime and manga diverged midway through the series, I'm going to assume that mangaka and the producers are in cahoots to create something entirely new, that is continue from where the movie left off. "Season 2" does not equate to a complete makeover of FMA in my eyes. Plus, Hellsing Ultimate was an OVA, not a season. I for one am really looking forward to this.

If you think about it there isn't a reason for them not to. In the anime Ed gets a new body when he travels over the first time (during the zeppelin bombing of England). I can't remember why he has prosthetic limbs in the C.O.S. though.

I heard they are picking up with meetig the chinese people in the manga version. IF they do not do that and do a continuation after movie then f*ck the bastards. Cheapass mofos want to milk the series of its already failure of an anime storyline.

@GSDAkatsuki: I actually liked the anime, but I'd rather see a continuation of it than a totally new season starting from ground zero.

@Fiery penguin: Ed's dad was over on the other side, and with his son they built his prosthetic/machine arms and legs together.

In the anime when he crossed over he was fine. He had both arms and legs and they worked fine. I think something happened to Ed's body in our world.

I'm trying to connect the dots between his first crossing and how he ends up with prosthetic limbs again in the movie. There is a piece missing that I can't remember.

Personally, though you could put it down as the company milking the series, I'd still like to see a continuation of the story. The ending of the movie just didn't satisfy me.

A remake might be interesting, but really, it would bother me more then anything. The anime was a genius production in its own right, and yes, it deviated from the manga about midway through, but what other choice did they have when the manga was still being slowly written? I loved the direction the anime took, and I don't think theres any reason to change it. Besides, that would just be weird... Would they remake the whole first half of the anime, (which was perfect from the manga perspective as well) and then continue it on? Or would they just start the new series when the two diverged. Either way it would be awkward to make work IMO.

I didn't like the anime cook up because it was random BS. I mean they should at least put some sense into what they were doing cuz the current ending they made is just silly.

I remember Ed was sent into the other world (the first time), and he inhabited the body of his double, not his own body. His double had all his limbs, of course. But the double died when the zeppelin crashed, and Ed was sent back to his world. So, when he went back to "our" world, he took his own body, which was missing the arm and leg.

Yeah, that was the puzzle piece I was missing.

So the only question remaining is "What will they do with the series" which can't be answered now because of a lack of information. I hate it when there is a question that can't be answered.

Yeah, it sucks. There's really no telling what the show will be like. But I did see this on Wikipedia, quoting Anime News Network articles:
