You are expecting the show to be what it is not.
To each to his/her own. I like the show and Kirino, or for that matter, the entire cast, even Ayane.
So basically the show is about nothing. That's the best explanation I have, because it both fails as a slice of life AND a comedy.
As a slice of life, it's horrible because the premise and interactions are utterly unrealistic and offensive. As a comedy, it's still bad because the show goes through a lot of effort to appear serious about their ridiculous premises. If what they were trying to accomplish was pointless drama, they did an awfully good job of it. And they shouldn't be proud of that.
This would have been a much better show if Kirino was portrayed to be an antagonist, since in virtually every way besides what the show wants you to believe, she perfectly fits the qualities of your typical antagonist. She is mean spirited, selfish, conniving, stubborn, and abusive to others around her, especially her brother, and she never shows any sign of really wanting to change that.
