I like seeing a movie of a book that I haven't read, then after I read the book, if I do it the other way, I see more flaws in the movie for some reason. It may simply be the first opinion being stronger than you realize.
I'll have to disagree here. I think that first opinions might be strong but if the adaptation was good then it would even overshadow the original. Let me give an example.
I actually watched the Twilight Movie(I know, don't say anything) before I read the book. I thought the movie was very lousy. I proceeded to borrow the book from a friend I got to know in camp. I found that the book was much better. I still find Vampires "Sparkling" to be ridiculous but the book was much more bearable than the movie.
hehe I wasn't stating that the adaptation can usually best the original if you give it a chance, what I'm saying, if you start with the original, you will hate the adapation even more. A what the hell did they do to my beloved book reaction.
How could you use Twilight as your example? The Twilight movies were horrid as movies go. Oh and if you are looking for more than sparkling vampires to be wrong, look at it in this light, it was written by a Mormon. Apply the views of older man attracting a younger woman...Yes it applies to the main characters, but how about the destined mates of the wolves, on sight of an infant or toddler, they spotted their life mates, the baby seeming to love Jacob? excuse me?.....Oh and there's plenty of other references but why make a book....
