Recently, I've been over the internet, because I wanted to recomend Code Geass to him. It came to me that... "Fuck? I don't really rmb the plot." So I begin the journey on Google. The end result is:
Code Geass IS A TRAIN WRECK 3000 Gizillions hits. Some of them were pro Code Geass, but all the same, still a little unsasitfactory from both sides.
I'm utterly lost and confused, especially when people keeps posting Trainwreck, trainwreck. Or the ones who do know say.. isn't it obvious. And the other side just rants its to the point it kills my head even more.
I really don't want to watch it over again due to time..., but something must be done if it can! And I'm willing to do it, with the community if they think it's possible (basically using some summer time to do it)
I mean by clearing up things, finding possible links, solving plot holes, Even the stupidest things should be brought to light, cause heck, keeping it to yourself doesn't help the rest of us. It'll be a hard journey, (hence I said summer hoping that most of you are free then) but it'll be interesting and can shed some light to both sides. No, I'm not here to justify any sides, I'm here to make sense of everything, to inform, to unravel the confusion and mysteries. To unperplex everything (Irony ain't it).
If people do think this is possible and want to work with me, I'll either make a new post, edit this one or pm you details of how we can work this journey out.
Anyone with me! Or did I just confuse everyone a tad bit to much... >_< Pls reply.
Will the Secret behind the Mask be discovered? Or is it empty?
Edit/PS: btw, the one vote for yes is from me right now, just so I can see the polls XP
I have seen many people such as you, and I agree, Code Geass does require a lot of interpretation before you can truly understand it. I don't agree with the "complete trainwreck" part. It's just that most of the people talking about it don't comprehend Geass and its complexity. It's the ending that has generated the most confusion, so I'll just go over that before you ask. *drinks coffee*
The Code is the power of immortality, which C.C. has. The 98th Emperor of Britannia, Charles, has the Code. He transferred the Code to Lelouch while strangling him in episode 21. Lelouch wanted this, and he deliberately told Suzaku to not interfere.
However, the Code does not activate unless receiver dies first. This is shown when the nun kills C.C. after transferring the Code to her. Charle’s Code activated when he shot himself. Here is one of the big misconceptions that most people have: The transfer of the Code does not involve death of the transferrer. The nun was crazy and killed herself after she transferred her code. VV was injured from the battle and died. So basically, after episode 21, Lelouch had Charle’s Code (inactivated) and C.C’s contracted Geass.
When Lelouch got stabbed by Zero/Suzaku at the end, his Code was activated. What supports this is that Nunnally got Lelouch's memories when she touched her, just like Lelouch did when he touched C.C. back in Narita. The only way this could have happened is his Code activating. This pretty much confirms that he has the Code.
Unlike C.C., V.V, and Charles, who lost their Geasses because the people who contracted them died, Lelouch didn’t obtain C.C.’s Code and thus kept his Geass, while having the Code (which he obtained from Charles at the same time. Lelouch therefore has achieved CODE GEASS.
Basically, Lelouch is the person driving the cart in the last scene. He, who is now immortal, travels the brand new world he has created together with the also immortal C.C. C.C. talks to Lelouch in the end by saying: "Geass is the power of kings, it will isolate you... well, I guess thats a little wrong... eh, Lelouch?"
Now comes the second big misconception. A lot of people say C.C. was just talking to the dead like with Marianne, that's not true. She could only talk to her because of the nature of her Geass which allowed her to implant herself into the "hearts" of others. That's how she was able to talk with Marianne. Lelouch's Geass was entirely different, meaning that she could only have spoken to him if he was there. Also, the fact that the cart driver is masking his features completely supports this fact, considering the fact that Lelouch is now considered dead.
"Writer IchirÅ ÅŒkouchi explains that Lelouch's death was the price Lelouch needed to pay to create his better world.[7] In addition, the name "Lelouch vi Britannia" is included in the magazine's final death list.[8]"
Lelouche, beyond a shadow of a doubt, is dead. I hope that clears things up.

I read that, but if you accepted that as the truth, then a lot of things don't add uu. How do you explain Nunally seeing everything? It doesn't clear things up at all. If you used my explanation you can explain everything better than what that says.
Remember, Code Geass R2 was messed around with that it can be "viewer-friendly". It never really went the direction that the writers intended to go.

I don't know exactly what happened after ep 21 in depth but to me it seems that it was an opened ending. There are so many holes in the story to actually figure out the true correct one. I'm not saying that any of you are wrong, but I'm just saying that the fact Lelouch is alive is speculation and if he got the code or not. Though if the writer says he's dead then I would most likely believe him but then that would leave all the other parts unanswered like how Nunnally was able to see Lelouch's memories.
@ g-money: People still add the "e" at the end of Lelouch's name?
@ Perplexibility: Been there done that, for basically each and every R2 episode and even more afterwards.
@ ImperialX: Stop it. Lelouch is a dead motherfucker. The fucking staff has said so. He now only exists as "Leloupard". The official explanation for Nunnally's ability for heart-reading is complete bullshit, but it is the OFFICIAL explanation given by Sunrise.
Meh, I already saw the GTFO which is why I put one down. And I saw that thing about Lelouche being dead thing... Heck people, are already labeling me as ranters lol.
As stated before I'm not taking any side >.>, and as much as I can say I'm assuming that their is alot of interpretation that could end up being useless, I can alerady agree with the trainwreck part (Heck, If you can't rmb the general plot of the whole thing which was the case for me... then somethings wrong)
This is more then just asking for figuring out all the confusion and some holes. Heck the author could for example, He's Officially Dead... but one could ponder what that means for example does that mean only in the documents of the Universe of Code Geass he's considered dead and is actually roaming around or it oculd be, yup, the people dug a grave for him and he's inside done which opens up new holes. For many, no matter how many times they see a bloody body, until they see a body go into the grave, then they will believe it.
Look people, I started this thread not to cause a huge fight between lovers and haters. I started this thread, because I thought, we could do this together as a community through an actually good method. ZeroOBK, if you have done that, then how and how far? Could I see you shed some light before I go through with this and convince me that you've done everything you could? And please no blogs... >.> they usually end up doing it base on only that episode itself and by the time they write the entire thoughts, half of it disapeared in their heads.
I want to go beyond that, Find every loop hole, possible connection, through an assumption that there is something that there is something there to understand. In something like, watch the show in its 50 episode run through, write down missing things, episode watch, write down what missing and what could lead to something. At the end, I want to be able to say our findings and we could put status of inconclusive, room for intepretation or there is a clear conclusion of where its going too. Infact, It would be fun if ZeroOBK and ImperialX would join me on this adventure as atleast it seems that you've done some work which makes the whole workload on me easier (plus there more credibility since its not a single mans intepretation)
The confusion in Code Geass can be solved, but only if you don't go with the official statement, especially the ambiguous ending. To those people who stick to the what Sunrise has to say regarding Lelouch's death, I'm willing to bet you guys can't explain how Nunally read his mind, why Orange (who is so faithful to the royal family) allowed Suzaku to kill him, and why C.C. said those words in the end. These are just some of the plot holes in Geass that can't be filled if you accepted the official explanation.
If you don't ignore the official statements regarding Code Geass, it will be impossible to solve the stuff that don't make sense. I've seen the whole thing twice and seriously, I can name few shows that make less sense than it.
Finding plot holes in Geass would take forever because there are so many and especially R2, which is completely not what the writer originally had in mind. Not only that, there are no solutions to them either. I still don't really know what you're trying to do here.

Personally, I think this is the only real plot hole of the three.
1) Lelouch could have been living a bit longer (brain lasts a bit after the inability to move, I believe...). Also, Nunally was crying, and why would she cry if Lelouch was going to be alive?
2) No explanation for Orange...
3) She could have been talking to the sky ("Lelouch is somewhere up there if he is dead" argument).
By the way, why would Suzaku be crying of Lelouch was still going to be alive?
I'm just going to stay with Lelouch being dead, because the producers said so, and there's more evidence of him being dead than alive.

1) Nunally and Suzaku doesn't know.
3) Makes more sense if he is alive. The show is called "Code Geass".
We can accept whatever we want. I just choose to accept my own interpretation, which I think actually explains everything better than the simple "he's dead" statement by the makers.
hmm, I see why your'e confused... I did it again >.> perplex everyone lol... It's more of finding symbolism, a plot that can be constantly seen through out the show, possiblities of why certain things were thrown in there. I realize that its a unfortunate writer couldn't take it his way... but he still had the to put some intention in their. Other than that, I really would love to understand the entirety of CG and end it with a sastifactory, it makes a lot of sense now on this series.
Oh and Nunally probably didn't know about the Code and Imortality. She knew the geass part I think, but not the code from what I saw to interpreted. Either way... I also want to know where the Hell is Xing Ke lol! That the thing that really perplexes me XP! Well, it is one of them
I personally enjoyed Code Geass. Who could forget such moments such as:
Seriously, each episode made me yearn for more. I was never more into a series than this one. Each time a new episode came out I was on the Fakku forums posting once again about what I thought about what I just seen and what the next episode was gonna be about. I think that one thread got close to 100 pages long? There was maybe 1 or 2 filler episodes throughout and the rest of the story was one giant plot that consumed you. Don't get me wrong though, the filler episodes were pretty awesome.
But if you really want a quick summary of what happened, I guess I'll try.
1.) Lelouch, a highschool kid, gains the power of geass which forces someone to do anything he says.
2.) Lelouch starts his plan of overthrowing the Brittanian Empire by leading a group of terrorists while simultaneously staying in highschool to keep his identity hidden. The reason for this is because his mother was assasinated by the king and his sister was left crippled and blind. His best friend, Suzaku simultaneously and without Lelouch's knowing joins Brittania's army in order to try to change them from the inside out.
3.) Lelouch's rebellion goes global and starts gaining support. Eventually the Brittanian Empire caves in and allows the formation of a Japanese district within area 11. Lelouch attends but his Geass ability goes crazy and accidentally orders the person in charge to kill all Japanese people. Support for Lelouch skyrockets.
4.) Eventually a final battle comes and Lelouch squares off against his best friend Suzaku and gets his ass kicked. He is handed over to the king and has his memories altered to that of the Lelouch before everything happened.
5.) The resistance movement finds Lelouch again and makes him remember what has happened. Once again he leads this resistance movement but with more care as to not let his identity get exposed.
6.) Once again this movement starts going global and eventually allies itself with roughly half of the world. A winner-keeps-all battle starts to brew.
7.) Lelouch kills the king and assumes the Brittanian throne leaving behind the resistance movement. Suzaku allies himself with him and together they start their mission to become evil dictators.
8.) Under Lelouch's guidance, the Brittanian army wins a major battle against the resistance and holds their military leaders captive and have them await the execution squads.
9.) In order to set things right, Lelouch assumes all the sins Brittania has commited and martyrs himself by having Suzaku kill him while disguised as Zero. His sister assumes the throne and becomes a fair, just ruler and everyone lives happily ever after.
Obviously there's a lot more plot and development than that but that should be sufficient. I'd recommend watching it over again - it's just such a great series.
edit: obviously I missed the point of this thread lol.
Yea ZeroOBK was all over that 100 page thread doing plot analysis. There is just so much shit covered there that its probably better to just simply read through those 100 pages than wait around for answers. I don't really agree with ImperialX's explanation but its fairly sound and definitely an interesting take on what happened. Thats what I like the most of this series - there's always room for unique explanations and I just like seeing the creativity involved in coming up with them.
Personally, I don't see the code as granting complete invincibility. More like while you are in that 'code world' or w/e the fuck that plane of space was called you are in control of what happens and you won't allow yourself to die if you are the code bearer. When the gods granted Lelouch the code his first wish was for his parents to be erased from existence. Also, I don't really think of Lelouch being able to pass his Geass to someone else by touch is true either. I guess I'll buy the story from Sunrise that Nunally actually had a geass herself that allowed her to see what was going on in people's hearts. All throughout the series she was able to "sense" whether a person was good or bad anyways.

Disregarding the official statements does not make your beliefs any more canon, nor do I suspect that they may make any more sense. Also, there's plenty of shows that make far less sense than Geass, don't fool yourself on that one. More than 50% of all shounen consists of pulling shit from out of nowhere and going along with it because heaven forbid you actually complicate matters by having actual intelligence in your manga, which also translates to bullshit in the anime with the additional helping of filler arcs. (The deadlines in weekly manga publications don't help the story much either.)

There's also like a dozen episode-specific threads, but I can't particularly remember any intense conversations in any but the episode 25 one.
