Please explain why you decided on your choice, what you like about series with those many episodes and whatnot. Feel free to include why you do not like the other kinds of series, but try to make it a cohesive argument. Don't just say that series with over 100 episodes are stupid or that series with 13 episodes are too short; explain why you think they are stupid or too short.
As for series that are made up of several seasons, I'd count the seasons as separate as long as there was a considerable break between the airing of them. So, if you like The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi, it'd count as two 13-episode series (and a movie), so you'd probably want to choose the "13 episodes" option.

Id like to have seen [C] in 26 episodes instead of the 11 it got. Theres been a handful of new anime that have come from light novels that really deserve 26 because 13 is too short to get through much of the novels. (Monogatari until 2nd season was announced, C^3, Mayo Chiki) At the same time some anime only need 13 (Madoka).
Usually the good animes get another 13 after their first season though and I would imagine if it does really well after that, and theres enough original content or popularity, then another 26 get tacked on and thats how we get into 100+.

26 episodes is usually the perfect length. It's sort of the "golden rule" of balance where you can get all the character development and everything in with enough time left over to be showy. 13 often has troubles with this balance, opting for one or the other really.

well, 26 episodes are fine most of the time but if an anime has more-100+ eps, than it means(IMO) that it has to be great and i'll probably like the characters even more + remember it for a much longer time than the short ones. Nonetheless there are short anime(13 eps) that might be better than 100+ ones. But i usually prefer 100+ ones because i tend to watch/download completed series only and being that i watch 3+ episodes per day, an anime with 13 eps will last only for 3-4 days meanwhile 100+ episodes will become a pleasant daily habit for a month :)

It depends on the serie, really. If it has more fillers than actual story, keep the serie shorter. If it's an interesting story through out the entire serie, keep it long!

The maximum I would accept out of a quality anime would be 50-60, but 26 is ideal for me.

Preferably I would like it if all series lasted forever but I can deal with 26, generally 12-13 ep series or half-runs cause issues such as plot rush and failure to fully show character development,especially in harem series that try to cram routes and leave out everything except a major flag or in action series whereas you'll only see one or two fights and a load of filler-shit class episodes that cause the whole idea to unravel.Some examples would be Hidan no aria, they left out the reki route and story, dantalian no shoka, meh the ending was extremely abrupt, as they tried to introduce and complete the story in the final episode without going into to much detail of the whole overstory and focused on non quizzical cases, and ore tachi ni tsubasa Wa nai, while the intrigue and ecchi scenes allowed for it to reach a great ratio of its maximum potential,their lack of showing time available caused them to rush into the end and left you feeling incomplete after the completion of the main character's transfiguration.

Some of my favourite anime this year has been under 20 episodes. Normally for me any anime from 15-25 episodes in length is good. Never have been a fan of anything too long. Some anime have gone longer than that, and let's be honest... we have all watched at least one anime that is more than 100+ episodes.

If there's a good story to tell, without any filler or tacked-on plotlines, I'd watch as many episodes as it took.

26 episodes all the way. The perfect amount to develop on the characters and build-up on the storyline. A movie is just a long version of an OVA. 13 episodes are okay, it seems like a series has some potential to be a full episode series to develop characters and story. Then 100+ episodes are just over the top. I watched Inuyasha and Bleach, all I have to say, "Just get to the point without the fillers and sidestories that are not related to the situation."

I would be perfectly fine if the Super Robot Wars OG series had 50 episodes each season. Then there would be more super/real robot awesomeness.

26, not much filler and you don't have to spend hours of watching those 100+ episodes and you can enjoy it longer than 13 episodes.

Depends on the story, but I vote for 25~26 six episodes.
More than 50 is okay as long as it really has quality.
EDIT: 12~13 episodes are fine, as long as the length of each episode is 40 minutes, like Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari.

In the end it all depends on the story.
Some stories are perfect with only 13 episodes while other might need 26 episodes or more.
I honestly don't care about the "length", the most important thing is how you utilize that "length". (Double entendre not intended)
Some good examples
Madoka Magica, had 13 episodes but it was enough show us all the events without adding more fluff.
Haruhi no Shoushitsu, it's a 2 hour length movie but how the story was "Adapted" that made it perfect
Steins Gate, had 24 episodes, but it used it builds ups and climax points perfectly.
Some Bad examples
Gundam Seed Destiny, had 50 episodes, but most of it were recap episode retelling 2-4 previous episodes.
Fate/Stay Night, it had 24 episode, but the problem lies within the large amount of scenario not able to be retold in this media, hence it fails in many aspects compare to the VN
Shingetsutan Tsukihime, it had 12 episodes, and It does not exists (same reason with fate/stay night)
shonen and shoujou animes are out of the question, since the episodes are made by demand.

-Shugo Chara, Pretty Cure

Im surprise by how many ppl vote for 26 episode.. but ya... Im one of them... I felt like wif the anime 13 episode.. their just flying thought the story.. and sometimes they hav no ending towards the anime... is like their calling u to wait 4 the 2nd season that wont be coming out like.. ever...

It's difficult to answer depending on what series it is, it's even difficult in general, which is what you're asking. Some anime may not be long enough (e.g. Claymore, they followed the manga up to volume 11, and changed the last 2 episodes which are different from the manga resulting in difficulty for any future episodes/series to come out - I would like to have seen more episodes of it as the manga is my favourite series), and some anime may be too long.
Usually anime around 24-26 episodes are really enjoyable e.g. Steins;Gate, Shiki, Nichijou etc, but so are 13 episodes anime e.g. Angel Beats!, Serial Experiments Lain etc.
I suppose I will have to go with the around 26 episodes option because most of my favourite series are around that (Clannad, Steins;Gate, Shiki, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Nichijou, and a lot more)

It seems to me that currently there is a trend towards 13-episode series in Japan. I feel like I've heard about more short series than long ones. Often these series even have second or third seasons, if not more. Are the first seasons just testing the water, to see if a series will prove popular enough for another batch of episodes? Is it a money thing, splitting up the cost over a longer period of time?
