Preferred Length

I don't have any backing data, but they usually test them out first. Like for example The World God Only Knows, where DVD sales was the main deciding factor for the 2nd season.

Money is also a factor, since buying the rights and the time spot for a full 2 season (24-26 episode) anime, is said to be very costly. Hence why Fate/Zero will be split into 2 seasons.

If it's more than 4 seasons, I won't watch it.

It's like, "if you have an artistic/story-oriented point to make and share with the world, don't milk it".

my problem is when i watch an anime with 26 episodes i think is too long and when i watch a 13 one i want it to be longer lol

I really don't mind the length of a series you know? unless its something like One Piece...then thats where I say Nope.avi

around 13 episodes, so there's enough interesting story in one episode, no filler in between. Mahou shoujo Madoka Magica had the perfect length compared to the story development

Really it depends on how watchable it is.

If the characters are likeable or the series is really funny or just generally good, then I would like it to last longer. If it's a short series, like Midori days, but still really watchable then I'd like to watch the usual 13 episodes, maybe more.

I'm one of those people to whom it's really important that the anime follows the original material as accurately as possible. It feels retarded to try and fit a really long and still ongoing manga in 13 or 26 episodes, as well as have tons of fillers in it. I know it can't be helped, it's business after all, but that won't stop my bitching.

My personal preference is 26 though. It seems appropriate in most cases, ie. doesn't feel too short but I don't get bored.

I voted other for this reason. It could be the 100000 episodes long, but if the story isn't finished or satisfying, then the entire series might as well be 2 episodes long (or vice versa)

i prefer 100+ series because i am always disheartened when a series i like ends. sometimes i try to convince myself its not over until i see the "thank you for watching" message

As long as the plot stays interesting and entertaining, I'd like it to last as long as possible. Most shows that are over 64 episodes are slow-paced and have fillers, so 100+ is usually bad. I wish there was a "50 episode" option, since that's my favorite length (Code geass, FMA brotherhood, clannad, etc)

Usually depends on my mood, and the genre of anime I'm getting into. But 26 episodes just seems to be the perfect amount to cover most stories without getting too long.

I don't have a huge preference as long as its good.
One example of a 100+ anime that was surprisingly good was Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, but for the most part I stick with 13 or 26ers, because I like to finish things.

26 or so for me, just enough content to make me happy, while not being one of those shows that never fucking end. 13 is good for a short, casual story, and 52 are good for really epic and complex stories.

I agree. But its hard to look for 100+ episode series that has no fillers and is really good. Yu Yu Hakusho comes to mind. Getting through the filler part of the 100+ episode series is the most bothersome thing. Otherwise more people would be willing for animes to be longer.

26, and maybe a second season. shit like bleach one peice and naruto, its just plain wrong. forgeting all the narutards its still wrong. its TO LONG, it gets repetative and boring! it needs to be short enouge to be pleasurably sweet, and long enouge to lead you on for a while ya know? take code geass, two 25, 26? episode seasons, its beautiful! or trigun, gundam 00 there long enouge to keep you entertained a long time, and to be sad when its over, yet to have enjoyed it properly. know what i mean?

It depends really. I like an anime to end with some finality. I can't stand long lasting animes with no end in sight (Naruto, Pokemon, Digimon) but I also can't stand it when they just drag it on and on (Dragon Ball Z). Animes don't have to be a hundred episodes long to be great (Cowboy Bebop, Trigun). They can be as short as just a few episodes (Golden Boy) or a bit longer (Berserk) and be fantastic.

All I look for in anime is great story, great characters and a finality. I like to see the end.

26. 11-14 is just too short to entire enjoy the thing.

Anyhow, I enjoy 26 episode series in general. Mainly because it is short enough for me to bother watching and still be able to fulfill a decent plot line. Also I don't like wasting my own internet.

However, if I am wasting university internet then I had go for 100+ episode series.
