And my hopes of this lead having balls flew out the window, as well, when he outright stopped Ikaros from hurting those guys.
I would have to say otherwise. Just what would he gain from Ikaros annihilating those lowlives? A headliner on some morning newspaper? It's not like he was only thinking of himself (nor his safety) back then rather, he was concerned about Ikaros' well being more than anything else. And for someone who lives in accordance to his motto (which I don't think is even necessary to remind you of what exactly), he's pretty much proven that he's got what it takes to step up and be a man who could be depended on, regardless of facing such troubles which he clearly would have wanted to avoid in the first place.

Beach volleyball: truly man's greatest sport. It also helps that it was Sohara and that she's tsundere and my most liked character in the show (with Tomoki being a close second).
I totally agree with you there. Sohara is definitely my favorite female character in SnO, followed of course by Icarus.
Apart from the categorization of Sohara's character which I would love to but couldn't totally disagree with, mine would be Tomo & Ikaros (equally) with the rest of the gang (except for Nymph) being a shoo-in for second. Watson-kun and Pretty the first both come in at third.
Question of the Week: What makes a tsundere (there, I've said it) anyway and how does that apply to Sohara being one? Each personal opinion are to be acknowledged and shall be very helpful in determining what goes there.

This episode was quite nice, though. We had the fanservice, and then we had the serious moments, (such as Sohara recalling some swimming lessons and Icarus getting all badass in order to protect Tomoki). Very nice balance, indeed.
Gotta LOL on the bolded part a little, if you don't mind. Putting it side by side with Ikaros' monstrosity (still I'm surprised that dude got away with his arm intact) has got to be an understatement of how serious it actually was in comparison. However, it did prove to be an important factor in helping deliver the very message of this episode. It may not look very much like it for the most part but this truly has a huge significance to the overall plot.
Anyways, why is a girl's heart so fragile? It's not like I can't see nor understand why but I don't think there's any goddamn reason for Sohara to be
jealous, especially of such a being as Ikaros.
Best part:
Tomo waking up in the middle of the night leading to the walk in the beach; an experience which everyone shared rather differently and quite awkwardly at that.
I REJOICED at this scene!
We or at least some of us seem to have forgotten that fruits DO (eventually) rot!
PS: Ikaros making such rusting sounds also got me into thinking though likewise, I stopped as soon as everything went back to normal.
