For those of you who actually watched the second season of The Mechanoly of Haruhi Suzumiya so far you'll understand why I'm writing this topic. Seriously what's up with these people they're driving me insane. They repeated the same episode for like 5 times now I think. Apparently its because Haruhi has regrets over her summer vacation and keeps August 17-31th repeating and it seems no one can figure out what she wants.
So everybody can write down their ideas here about what they think Haruhi wants. Or you could just express your anger against the producers unless you like the watching the same episode repeated over and over again.
I've only a few problems with Endless Eight so far. First, it vexes me how KyoAni chose to do this; animating and (supposedly) re-voicing all these episodes cost money. How do they do it?! Second, this arc has Kyon kind of looking on the stupid side of the intelligence spectrum. Exapmles: Kyon thinks that Mikuru might have caused the time loop, Kyon thinking that knowing exactly what a person says is deja vu, and Kyon doesn't immediately jump on the fact that it's Yuki who still has all her memories. It doesn't help that he has yet to do so much as grab Haruhi's wrist on the 30th just before she leaves. Third, is the lack of variation in the repetition. Can't we have a loop where Mikuru doesn't go goldfish scooping? What about the other type of part-time jobs? I feel that KyoAni should have used the other part-time jobs for each episode, until the final Endless Eight where the SOS Brigade would do the frog-at-the-mall job.
Yeah, its getting old, but will I stop watching it? No, because I love haruhi.
Still, they best be hurrying there ass up on the finisher for Endless Eight, and the ending better be fucking fantastic, or I'll fly to japan to open up a can of whoop-ass on KyoAni.
I read the translated novel part because I was impatient. I'm still waiting for season 2 to start though. I do like watching people go "OMFG DROPPING THIS SERIES" like it matters to everyone else and it'll be funny once this is done and they start watching again.
i dunno perhaps kyo-ani are trying something diffrent. who know maybe? i think they want fan like us to feel the same way as nagato emotion feeling boring watching the same scene over an over and over and over and over again. but for nagato thousand times and us only 8 already feel disturb.
I actually find it to be a interesting experiment in how you create an anime. Each episode is the exact same story, but clothing, voices, camera angles, inflections, emotions and some much more all change. The question is, can you really say that this episode is the same as the last one? I'm finding it incredibly entertaining, and I think it will be looked back on as a defining moment of how you define anime.
Edit: Another thing I find myself liking is the way that we get to see Nagato slowly losing it. It is more and more obvious that this repetition is getting to her, which the light novels only did a so-so job of showing.
On the OTHER hand... I've read the light novels, and they didn't go this far. So Kyoani has basically broken the cannon in order to have more endless eight. So that kind of vexes me.
And my one, final gripe is... where is my disappearance!? I was so looking forward to seeing that animated, but it looks like that's pretty much out the window, as far as the second season is concerned at any rate.
I was hoping with the 8th episode the endless would be finish, but nope. Its just the same as the other ones, Kyon still hasn't mentioned anything about why she had the next day set aside (or at least that's what I think its the problem, I haven't read the manga so I'm just basing on the anime)
and I'm seriously just thinking about giving up on it. To me it got boring after the 3rd "same" episode. But that's just my opinion
These "Endless Eight" episodes get a little tiresome to watch since, yes, it's a storyline of repetitive looping. But I get some kicks on seeing the little differences between each episodes (I open the previous episode MKV and the new episode's MKV, and spot the differences).
I'm still on my toes on finding out how to break Haruhi's monotony. But I'll hypothesize it'll be in a form of a night date with Kyon.
While most of this doesn't really get to me, did anybody else feel a little rage build up during this latest episode, when it showed Kyon and Itsuki standing in front of the sign that just said "Endless"? I actually gripped my computer lightly, muttering "Kyoani you bastards..."
7 episodes of endless eight, really hope the next one is the final one but im wondering if kyoto animations' studios isn't burnt to the ground yet from the fans :)
