Top 6 Romance Anime!

I know it is contradicting to include BOTH Comedies and dramas. However, anime and manga are unique in the fact that the two are almost inseparable.

Take Clannad for instance. The first season could be consider much more comedic than dramatic, however it is the carefree and mostly happy world the characters inhabit that make it so very dramatic - especially in the second season.

I also have no idea where to place shows like Nodame Cantabile. Is it comedic? Very. Is it dramatic? Of course. Which outweighs the other? I don't think you can clearly say it is more one way or the other.

Plus, it would be unnecessary to have two different threads, one for comedies and one for dramas. Plus, you would probably have the same animes listed in both. The more important factor that should be considered is the romance aspect, because relationships can be just as powerful whether they were born from laughter or tears.

Interesting you but Honey and Clover when I remember you said you didn't necessarily consider it any good...

I actually miscontrued this thread as top 6 "Romance anime" instead of strictly thinking in terms of "romance comedy" or "romance drama". Unless this was what you were asking for, neko-chan.

But it was "romance comedy" OR "romance drama" as indicated by the thread title, I see no problems with the choices you quoted, Kuroneko1/2.

Yes, if it's one OR the other, then those anime choices are okay. I was assuming it were animes that combined both elements (and the romance). My bad then.

Let's see..

1. Clannad
- Hands down, my favorite romance anime.

2. Honey and Clover
- I liked how the story didn't overplay itself, and it went very smoothly.

3. Kare Kano
- Sad that the anime had to end on that part, but still romantic on an overall basis. How falling in love can never be that simple even if you think it isn't.

4. Kimi ni Todoke
- Beautiful, in a word.

5. Lovely Complex
- Hilarious, lovable and touching in a well-rounded story.

6. Ai Yori Aoshi
- I liked the premise very well, especially the first episode.

Honorable mentions:

Junjou Romantica
- I know it's a yaoi anime, but several of the story parts were too romantic to pass up. I wanted it to be on my 6 but Ai Yori was more romantic than it.

Amagami SS
- If this thourougly satisfies me until the end, I might make it my #3 and bump #6 off my list.

Shuffle!
- The anime version made me feel a bit good inside after I saw it, so I also wanted it on my list. But weighing... it's a bit lower.

1. Clannad - If you haven't watched it, you are missing out on a great anime

2. Lovely Complex - This anime is just too cute, funny and, most of all, romantic!

3. Nodame Cantabile - Romance with comedy.... PLUS, it has classical music in it! Definitely better than La corda D'Oro, though I still like that one :3

4. Kare Kano - A realistic love story that succeeds in anime format. Also my 1st romantic anime :3

5. Midori no Hibi - A surprisingly touching love story about a guy and a girl who became his right hand.... literally :))

I would LOVE to know how your life is like Onegai Sensei, even if just a little bit.

I would love to list six, but I don't think I've watched enough to post that many. So instead I'll just give my favorites which are FLCL and Eureka Seven.

I would've put Ai Yori Aoshi down as well, but I felt it had too much harem elements and thus the focus on Kaoru and Aoi was less. It's still one of my favorite anime series, but in terms of romance, other series do it better.
