My sis discovered I read "Franken Fran" and as the little bitch she usually is she told my mom about it. And she told me I'm gonna end up being fucked up in the head and an evil person.

I must say that I am a medical student and am not disgusted by anykind on manga/doujin genre (well. . . maybe yaoi and extreme gore, Franken Fran was ok) in fact I kinda liked Franke Fran due to the way she handeled her patients with science and crazy-fictional science.

So. . . what are your thoughts on gore and material of similar content?

I think you're mother and sister got you on this one. I mean no matter how you explain it....

I don't usually say things with seriousness but the fact that you read it and are a medical student is too much for both your mother and sister. You can gurantee they wont look at you the same way. I wouldn't come to fakku where everyone could be bias towards you(unless your goal to make yourself feel better about what your interests). Ask a friend of yours or something.

Not a fan of gore. I get a physically painful reaction from intense gore. My left knee begins to ache until I stop viewing said material.

I dont really like gore. BUT I like the Franken Fran series, its funny and well its awesome. Fran is awesome.

Onto the question at hand I'd say this: guro is readable, possibly enjoyable when its well drawn and the story is nice and twisted.

haven't read it. and from the sounds of it, i don't think i want to.

I read every chapter of franken fran with a straight face. except the one with the insect girl. I had an angry face for that one. And i laughed at the indian chick with the roaches. Also okita is on my top 25 funny manga characters. he was awesome.


on topic though I think they desensitize you to that kind of thing. Which can lead to problems, but only if you let it.


EDIT- i also loved the part where the cop axes the tsundere chick in half with a fire axe. i want to make a meme out of it but i never want to see it again.

Franken Fran? Sounds interesting. I'll make sure to check it out. I'm too freaking desensitized. I blame Corpse Party. In manga and anime, I love gore. District 9 is one of my favorite movies.

Well... reading gore stuffs and being a medical student at the same time... Your sis and mother have reasonable excuses for judging you like that. I don't think it's something serious, though. I must say I don't like gore but I have come across much worse stuff than Franken Fran.

When it comes to gore, I have my limits beyond which it disgusts me. So I might give Franken Fran a try, but the way you describe it I'll give it up midway.

Gore doesnt bother me. Its quite enjoyable in movies and usually my favorite part of movies that have it. Corpse Party is easily one of my favorite manga.

I do try to avoid some of the more intense gore. As I find them hard to look at. But as far as I'm concerned if a series doesn't show blood when there should be blood I am a little angered by that. So its about balance really

Gore and the questionable categories of manga should definitely be kept to yourself. There are lines that shouldnt be crossed and knowing the average person..sometimes keeping a secret to yourself is necessary even if it isnt to cause harm and/or something that simply peeks your interest for no reason other than to satisfy your own curiosity and discovering personal limitations to ones tastes in things. Just dont think about and tell your sis to stay away from your shit. xDDD
