What has happened to American Animation?

I just remembered this show called "Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi", I never found it interesting but thinking back it was probably the first time I heard Japanese. Has anyone else seen this show and did you like it?After a quick google search, I do remember seeing the characters a long time ago. I don't think I've ever watched it, but the two characters look vaguely familiar.
