Who's the most badass villain in anime?

I have to say either the Emperor of Britannia or Orange-kun (in ep. 25) from Code Geass. Even with as little screen time as the Emperor had, you still get the feeling like he's been manipulating a lot of the stuff going on behind the scenes. Orange-kun was pretty much unstoppable with Siegfried in the last episode.

I'll second Treize from MS Gundam Wing, Zechs was pretty good too.

Yeah, she was the best part of the series for me. Too bad she appeared so late and was only in one or two epi's...


I nominate a loli....Rio from Spiral. She lures a teacher to his death. Blows up her chest to hide evidence and she built the bomb that did it!

Time to make another addition to this list:

I nominate Viral from TTGL as a total badass. Even though he and Enkidu spent most of the show being Kamina/Simon's personal punching bags after their first battle, he somehow managed to keep up the appearance of a legitimate threat to the Dai-Gurren Brigade, though usually he needed help from one of the generals and some cannon fodder.

Actually, now that I think of it, Jesse, James, and Meowth from Pokemon get badass status for the same reason. Moreso than Viral, even, because they never needed backup beyond what they kept in their pokeballs.

Keeping in mind that I haven't watched Pokemon since some time during the Johto League, Team Rocket as I remember them were complete jokes as villains, but god help you if you underestimated them; their plans almost always had a tendency to fail by the slimmest of margins right before they went blasting off again, only to come right back next episode with another plan to capture Pikachu or whatever it was they were after that particular episode.

I'm gonna have to add Grimmjow to my list. I'm surprised I didn't before and that up until now he hasn't been mentioned. In very few words, he's the shit.

I have to say Sora from Air Gear. He fucking takes Rika hostage and strapping her to some fucked torture chair. I mean, it was hot, but I fukken raged as well.

Ashura from Soul Eater.. His awakening freak me out. And I was totally disappointed when real form of ashura was was defeated by Maka.

I've always liked Alucard from Hellsing.

How is he a bad guy?

The best villain is anime ever has got to be Papillon Mask from Busou Renkin!



He strikes fear into the hearts (and anuses) of all who encounter him!
But to be somewhat serious, he did kick lots a' ass. And can take some serious damage. And he looks damn good doing it.

Johan from Monster was a pretty good villian.

@Garden of Madness: but he's really a good guy in the series... which kind of invalidates his position as a badass "villain" in anime. Other than that, I agree that he's pure awesome. He made me laugh a lot in the anime.

Mmm, I guess technically he was a good guy but that wasn't until the very end of the series.
I remember all the people chanting his name at the end. That cracked me up.

Mm, he was still helping Kazuki even though he had his own agenda when he fought off against the other alchemists and his grandfather. I still say he was a good guy.
