Well its the voice that ultimately got me. Listen to 'him' and tell me it doesn't sound like girl, maybe a tomboy.
I going to throw my opinion in this discussion, and say that she is a boyish-looking tomboy; not a boy. My supporting reasons to this is in one episode where the boy with the blue mech., told the tomboy off about missions or something. After that, she becomes all emo and restless. Also there was a beach episode where both the good guys and bad guys went to the same beach, and as I recall, the tomboy was wear a bikini....for tomboys.
What is the name of this character? I want to find more pics of said "trap" before I pass judgement.

It's strange, in the beginning I used to rage whenever I saw a trap, not because orf the concept itself, but the idea of "why must he (this particular character) be so girly?" However, the more I saw traps, the less I cared, maybe I got used to it or: How I learned to stop worrying and love the trap.

its because the authors know readers would go
"AWW what a cute girl/boy"
and then hits you with a trap missile which causes readers to go
"AWW man,its a dude/chick"
Which causes readers to rage,be confused and feel guilty for liking a dood/chicka
This is probably the guide to create more memorable characters when the stereotypes are not cutting it anymore

I guess it's Japan's idea of a joke to have a cute, feminine character that's really a boy. Sort of like how England thinks that it's hilarious whenever a man wears women's clothing.
