Is the time on your phone set to automatic sync?

Wow just had a scary thing happen, I use my ipod touch with the google authenticator app to setup two-step. It error'd the first time scanning the qr code, 2nd attempt worked fine & verified.
Attempting to login as usual, prompt for the verification app code, entered in & failed.
Wait for a fresh code, failed again, enter the same code again before it changes to a new one - says I timed out/error. Please log in again >:(
after a couple more times, I login; wait for a new code; then I wait about 5-10 seconds, then enter the code. It errors but I got logged in.
I hope this gets fixed/improved >:(
