[Locked] FAKKU State of the Union 2016

Yesterday we removed all scanlations from FAKKU. This is something we announced over six months ago, but obviously it still came as a surprise to a lot of our users. Once we removed all unlicensed content the only material remaining was that which had been officially licensed, an overwhelming amount of which is for subscribers. The response has been divisive, with people coming out in support and people fueled with hatred of the decision. As the person who created FAKKU nearly 10 years ago, I am here now to answer your questions and explain why I think this is the right thing to do. Why did you remove scanlations and unlicensed content? A lot of people think hentai is free just because it's always been free. Given our history at FAKKU we've contributed to that misconception, and now it's time to fix it. Everything you've been reading on the Internet has been a scan of an actual book from Japan, something Japanese authorities are increasingly clamping down on. Piracy is not a sustainable business model, but more importantly, piracy has never been my goal with FAKKU. Over the past year we have officially published over 200 individual artists. After going to Japan and meeting with artists whom we've published and have had their scanlations appear on FAKKU, I have made the decision to support them as much as I possibly can. It's heartbreaking to talk with an artist and have them explain that when they Google their name they don't see their website, or their Twitter, or any way to actually support them. All they see are pirated scans of their work that were uploaded somewhere without their permission. This isn't a problem unique to hentai, it's an issue with the anime and manga industry at large and the reason why so many Japanese companies, publishers, and artists, blindly turn their back on their overseas fans thinking we're all pirates. Because for so many years that's all we've been to them, pirates. My goal with FAKKU is to change their perception of us and removing scanlations (and giving our users a way to support their favorite artists) is the next step. As a result of this change you'll see more content coming to FAKKU from new artists and new publishers. We will be publishing all different kinds of genres, including things you don't normally see on FAKKU. I want to bring back all of the content that has been removed, but now legally and in collaboration with the artists that created it instead of via pirated scans. Right now we simulpublish two of the largest hentai magazines in Japan, Comic Kairakuten and Comic X-Eros, which together account for almost 1,000 pages of new content each month. The fact that we have been successfully doing this for six months is incredible, it's the equivalent of publishing two entire issues of Shonen Jump every single month. We plan to add free content for users that cannot afford a subscription, but it's going to take some time. We are still legally figuring out how exactly to do this and how to do it in a way that's smart alongside our subscriptions. If you have ideas post them in this thread, I'll be reading every single reply. Final Thoughts At this point whether we succeed or fail is entirely up to you, and we need your support now more than ever. If you can't afford a subscription, help spread our message and explain to people why we made this decision and why the artists deserve support. Get out there and tell people. Think of all the faps these artists have given us over the years, now we finally have the opportunity to give back to them in a meaningful way. I hope you choose to stick around with FAKKU. Are you dumb or extremely stupid? Everything that was pirated was free, only Wani's magazines and books were paid content which were on legitimate contract.

What I mean is that its the artist's works that they profited off. They depended on other non-wani artist's pirated works to make their business bigger while going on about wanting to support the artists.

The most professional thing to do would be to remove scanlations from your site from the beginning right after going into an agreement with Wani. You know, like going legit from the beginning and not going legit while uploading other artist's works?

I just wish they would have kept the list of our favorites on our account so I could go back and find them else where. There were a lot of ones that didn't have English titles and probably will never be published on Fakku! now, I actually want to buy a printed copy Fakku! sells but none of them really catch my eye, there was someone who posted saying Fakku! should have added more content before deleting all of their free scans that were uploaded and I completely agree with him. Sad to think this site might be gone eventually but I hope it sticks around for another 5+ years.

Sooo you're talking about stuff from over a month ago? This point has been brought up before. Yeah, it was hypocritical, but I imagine the partnership allowed it to soften the blow to the users. Just one day having everything removed without notice would 'cause everyone to flip the fuck out (not that the stupid didn't anyway).

In any case, all unlicensed works are gone now and they are 100% legit. Complain about the past if you want.

Third time posting here! One functionality issue I would like to see addressed as a subscriber and a book purchaser is the full screen feature on your reader. Why don't books have this feature and only subscriptions do? Do books have it and I'm just not finding it? Also, there are time when this feature is wonky on subscriptions. It randomly switches out of full screen, you can't turn pages properly (swipe left or right) or it loads you at the bottom of the page rather than the top. I do practically everything on mobile (iPad) including browse Fakku. My biggest peave is having the tabs and url bar above whatever it is I'm reading. I WANT MY FULL PAGE!

The books and subscription reader are indeed different, but both have a full screen option. They are not in the exact same place, but in the upper right corner is a button which let's you enter full screen mode on both readers.

I do not know why the books are not using the new reader yet. Is the subscription reader still in beta?

I'm a member of 9 private trackers and I never needed to pay a dime. Certain things need to be non public since movies and porn on the public are tracked by snitches and the copyright police. Anime/manga/hentai is even watched. So many japense flags on my peerlist.

OK hello! I rarely go on to forums but this has denied my fapping experience. All deleted content was mainly dojins rip offs of anime. I personally love fapping off to anime babes. Idea? Bring it back and make such Manga for subs only. Give some profit to the artists. I completely understand this issue is really do and I subscribed not only for good faps but to support this website since it has a decent community. Granted I'm only one sperm cell in the scrotum of life, I do like to help. I really hope, we get so excited of our old Anime Babes back because I rather cap off here and support you rather than risk getting a virus on some other website.

Wani doesn't have the right to speak for other artists they don't work with. They can only protect their own works.

I mostly approve your decision FAKKU. But I mostly fap to anime girls and since there isn't a content like that I'll have to delay my subscription... maybe if you'll start to add that kind of things I'll consider to make a sub :)

I use two private trackers, but they don't require payment, only a good seed/leech ratio. Basically just be a good member.

He's suggesting you buy a book rather than get a subscription. That a one-time cost ($10 for digital) and you can take as long as you need to read it.

So. If I buy a book, and it isn't what I was hoping it would be, do I get a refund ($10 for digital) or am I just stuck with a book that I'm probably never going to read? I just clicked on the books link, and I can't preview any of them, so how will I know if I like them?

Again, back to my original statement. I wish the best of luck, and hopefully one day there will be a time where you don't need to worry about repercussions from anyone, and I'll probably check back, but in the meantime, good luck.

First I'd like to say that I created an account solely to respond to your decision, though it will likely fall on dead ears.

I agree that this is your site and you may do with it what you will, but I find your reasons for doing so to be ludicrous.

No where on the internet does there exist a group of Paragonic and virtuous individuals that will remove all free content from their site and do so stating that they are protecting artists. You ran a fiction sharing site. You then dabbled in hiring artists and posting for profit material. This plan worked and you've changed your business model because you like money.

There's nothing wrong with this. I like money too. Anyone who says they don't is lieing or an idiot.

I have no problem with you changing from a sharing site (which is permitted as long as you don't profit from it) to a pay site with your own artists.

Just don't treat people like morons of naive fools and lie about your reasons for likening money. It makes you look like a tool.

I am think its an awesome idea because it makes it easeir for subs since all manga's are not censored now too. Download problem but i know you issue with that

IMPORTANT: Why are insist/inseki becoming more like normal hentai.it has become like a direct sex between 2 peopl. Are you guys going to release anime too?

I just notice the new changes they did today. I'm I fully upset.... not really.
Yes I been an old member shoot probably older then what my account say.
100% I'm shock and hurt that I lost my list of favorite hentais I been collecting. Now I can relate to those ecchi shows. Where the guy came back to his room and can't find their porn (because of their mom, gf, best friend(who a girl), girl next door had took them). >.> Now sigh deep and depress from losing all that good stories.

However we all forgot about one thing Fakku is finally growing more. I believe with more people creating account join and their subscription get better. The hentais we had on our favorite list will be back. This way Fakku can help out with both the artist and followers. The artist will now know how many fans that love their work and it will make the artist put out more books. Also more hentai artist and author will look for Fakku if there more people subscribe or create an account.
Who knows they might do a special hentai just for Fakku followers only.

I'm hoping in the future Fakku would also do more contests.

I haven't given up on Fakku yet I believe it going to get a lot cooler in the future.

Just be patience and see how things going to go.
