Oh is this the cc transactioers issue.
Yeah. What brought this whole thing on was that Pornhub and Onlyfans had massive problems moderating their platforms; they both had rampant problems with CP because of the fact that anyone could upload to the websites, and not enough moderation was there to fix it. So, Pornhub went and nuked non-verified accounts (Meaning you had to be part of the industry somehow to have an account). Onlyfans temporarily delayed its ban of adult content, but its likely that if the problem continues, the ban will eventually come.
Because of this issue with CP on adult websites, payment processors like Visa and Mastercard have gone scorched earth and refused to do business with most adult websites to prevent possible cases of being open to liability. The same goes for server hosts, as they can run into the same problem.
This is also the same reason that tumblr and ebay banned porn from their websites, just fyi.
So no, contrary to what some people on this thread think; it's not motivated by religious fundies or what ever the fuck, that's just them talking out of their asses. The mainstream tech platforms and payment processors are doing this to protect themselves from potential legal problems. I do not agree with going scorched earth on porn (I think it's an absolute bullshit move, yet another reason I hate major tech platforms), but no major platform been willing to hire a big enough moderation team to verify that content being uploaded is legal or not.
Twitter is actually having the same problem since they allowed porn on their website; but since they are also one of the biggest tech platforms on the internet, they have much more leeway.
