Hello new mobile site layout!

This seems to be a pleasant surprise! I log on to Fakku via phone and see a new layout for the website!

alas, as it is, the new mobile site layout makes browsing the forums a pain with chrome.

The top bit with the back button and URL won't go away, and on top of that the Fakku logo and search bar makes it way up a lot of screen estate when holding horizontally, but not too bad holding it vertically.

But when holding vertically all the text when browsing topics are scrunched to show like this

And the avatars now look huge!
I personally liked the old mobile site better but I'm sure it's still a sort of work in progress and improvements will be made.

These are just my first thoughts and impressions.

Browsing manga works fine though.

I like the new mobile layout. Page navigation is easier now that there's a dedicated site menu.

You're spot on about the forum layout. Avatars are larger than necessary. I don't mind the nav-bar being there while browsing the forum, but it does he distracting if it hand around while reading manga. The readablity probably varies from either phone or tablet.

Forums and reader still need some work x3 thank you for the feedback!

The nav bar is to damn big . everything is to zoomed in and I can't tucking see what I'm typing cus again nav is to damn big make it smaller and maybe to.the side or a way where I can go to the desktop version instead of the phone

Pls put a desktop option I prefer the desktop than this skin its more easier than this one. It's actually a hassle this skin.

I'll see if there's a way to even do this, because one of the major reasons for this change was for Google. As they really don't like when sites display as desktop on mobile devices.

This layout change was certainly a surprise, that's for sure.

See this? This is the phone I use. Nothing fancy-schmancy like modern ones, and I can't even put too many apps in, internal storage is bollocks. But it gets the job done.

Now, see that Alt button over there? I have to press that, then a respective key, to press the alternate character for the key. So, just F is F, but Alt F is 5.

Why is this relevant now? Because the new login page doesn't fucking register the Alt key, and my password AND email address have numbers in them!

I'm honestly considering using my PC to reset my password now, because really, it isn't that troublesome to do, but it really is an inconvenience, since not all of us have the best phones these days but still go to Fakku almost half the time on phones.

It impossible to type with the fakku header blocking the screen.

My main issue is that the preview images on the main page are waaaaay too small, meaning I have to zoom in.

The other issue is that pretty much every title is cut off, meaning I have to follow links just to find out what the title is/find out if it's a new part of a series. Like this.

It just feels way too cramped, even on a tablet (which is what I normally use) but for some reason I can't force Chrome to let me use the desktop version of the site either.

I wish you would make an app as opposed to a mobile site...

It's kind of a hard situation. We'd love a mobile app over a mobile site however there are some factors there.

App stores won't allow us to host with them. So only users with rooted or jailbroken phones could install it.

Basically what we've done is added a 'grid' to FAKKU. This grid re-positions elements of the webpage to display well on a mobile device. Basically the elements rearrange based on your screen's width. So it's not so much "zoomed in", it's actually making elements larger and repositioning them to fill the screen.

I understand there are some kinks to work out. The next roll out will have the fixes for the forums and add some stuff to the header so it's not as intrusive.

Not entirely sure since I'm not too good with CSS and have only taken a brief look at the CSS. But do you know how the search engines check for mobile optimization?

Would it be possible to move all the media queries to a separate CSS stylesheet and load it by default (so it's indexed by Google). Then have a button on the site that would change a session/cookie "useDesktopVersion" to true/false, which in turn, is accessed by jQuery and if "useDesktopVersion" is true, disable the stylesheet with the media queries? Again, I know nothing about how these sites are indexed by Google based on mobile optimization, also, I don't know if what I'm suggesting is possible.

Can't complain it works just needs some polish ^.^

I have a few issues with page loading on the new mobile layout. On the front page especially, the titles and thumbnails for the doujinshi are spaced way too far out. II am using Safari on an iPod Touch if that helps.

One thing that could also help would be a way to switch between the mobile layout and the desktop layout. I know that YouTube and Destructoid both have options for that.
