Logging out

It Happens In The Most Unexpected Moment. Happens To Me When I Thought It Wont Happen For A While. And I Too Will Kill Someone. Thats Like Winning The Lottery But Losing The Ticket.

I've never had it happen until today, and it has happened twice in about four hours. Always shortly (5-15 minutes) after I logged in.

Kind of a late bump, but what are all your cookie settings on IE?

If it's anything but Accept all cookies, please say so here that could be the relation between the users getting logged out, I got to see some code Jacob uses today, and I think cookie settings may be why. Pretty sure it will just read IE's cookie settings, but whatever your browser's is, is also relevant as well.

So listing both would be good practice.

Well like I said on the first page I'm using Firefox.

It doesn't matter what you use, chances are if you're logging out on here it's because the session is destroying (by not being passed) at some point, which should only happen when you're not using cookies for a certain point.

To my knowledge IE settings take priority over all browsers, so opening up your IE and checking your cookie settings might help us narrow it down, also you can tell us your Firfox settings as well, if you don't give any information there is no way we can help you.

I just tested it on IE8 with different cookie settings, High security logs me out when returning to posts, and a few other places, Block all cookies won't let you log in at all, for obvious reasons...I suggest setting IE to accept all cookies, and tweaking your default browser's cookies settings as well.

This may not fix it, but so far it's the only way I've been able to fabricate your problems.

You can do this in IE from Tools > Internet Options > Privacy
Firefox you can do it from Tools > Options > Privacy
Opera you can do it from Tools > Advanced > Cookies
Chrome you can do it from Options > Under the Hood > Cookie Settings

Well I just checked on my IE and it says that I already had accepted all cookies, same with my Firefox, the only thing is that it says on my Firefox is that it'll keep them until they expire does it have to do with that?

No till they expire is right, Can you give me a screenshot of your cookies tab on firefox so I can clone your settings?

I've goofed around with firefox security settings, and I notice it logs me out when my cookie settings change at all, even if the Fakku entry is still there.

I'm going to keep playing with it to see if it happens, I think we need someone else with a different browser from Firefox to test their browsers out, as well as give us updates as to what happens when they do what.

As it stands now, it may be a glitch in FF3, since it is only happening in FF3 regardless of what your cookie settings are on (it seems at least, might not we'll have to see what a few others settings are), something to do with how they handle cookies?

Sorry I had to leave after I made that post and I'll give you the screenshot once I get home to my computer since I'm using a computer at my campus atm. But while I'm here can I ask you a question? By saying for me to give you a screenshot of my cookies tab on Firefox where is that? Is that where I told you that I had my settings on accept all cookies or is it somewhere else?

Yea that's it but in Firefox when you use "custom" settings there are numerous little chec kboxes I want to clone your settings 100% to see if I can fabricate the result.

Also, Knowing when it happens would be good (IE: after you go idle for some minutes, when posting, when editing your profile, etc things like that)

I don't quite follow what you say about there being numerous little check boxes I can't seem to find that (what I did was I clicked on the "Tools" drop down menu and clicked on the "Options" then I just clicked on the "Privacy" tab) I'm not sure what else I would need to do to get to what you're talking about.

And as for knowing when it happens I'm not quite sure it's mostly just random, sometimes I just get logged out right after I make a post or sometimes when I refresh a page I get logged out, things like that. Also I'm not sure how long my account will keep me logged in when I go inactive for a bit but it can keep me logged in for a while, I can't give you an estimate since I'm not totally sure how long it does that.

Are you on Firefox 2, or 3?

As for the rest I only meant that as a "which" kind of question, to narrow down when the session is getting lost, if it keeps it for a while when you're idle we can rule out an expiring cookie as the problem, you say it happens when you make posts, or refresh, these are valid times to lose a cookie based on the way Fakku works,thing is you shouldn't be losing it, next time you get logged out, instead of logging back in go to your cookies, and click "Show Cookies" to see if an entry for Fakku still exists, trying to narrow down this problem is proving to be hard :(

Lol I'll try to do what you said and as for which Firefox I'm using I think it's Firefox 2 then because I don't have that many checkboxes.

Ah well first and foremost I'd suggest upgrading to 3 I love FF3 : D

Yea uh, FF2 doesn't have any settings, we'll just have to wait for you to log out again and see if you still have Fakku cookie when it happens, then proceed from there.

K so now I guess we play the waiting game lol.

Alright well it did happen again and you talked about seeing if my Fakku cookies were there so I took this screenshot, I hope I did it right otherwise I'll have to end up waiting again lol.


Hmm I checked to see if there was a difference with the cookies myself and it seems that after I logged back in that it was all still the same.

Hm, so the problem isn't in the cookie being lost, expiring, or otherwise...

When you navigate around Fakku, do you seen an sid=somerandomstringhere in your url bar?
