Logging out

Ok, that also shows that your cookies are enabled, as the sid would only append if they weren't to keep you logged in throughout pages.

Such an odd problem...I'm going to sleep on it and think about it some more tomorrow

Can you do me a favor and upgrade your Firefox to 3, or trial run Chrome, Opera, IE, any one of them really and see if you still get logged out in them?

As it stands now the only thing I see different is that you're on Firefox 2, though I really doubt it's a browser issue.

Actually I WAS on FF3 when that happened. :|

It hasn't occurred recently though.

Hmm, this error is so odd! We've established the following:

> Cookies are enabled
> Cookies are not limited
> Cookies are not being destroyed/lost
> It's not the browser (probably)

The only thing I can figure is that it's a confliction with a plugin, or something you guys have going on your firefox, like Shuugo said earlier, at this point all we can really do is keep looking for a connection between users who are getting logged out.

So far the only connection is that they are using Firefox.
For reference can both of you post your User-agents, and Java versions, and if you have time maybe a list of plugins you may or may not have installed on Firefox?

For help getting that information see this thread (https://www.fakku.net/viewtopic.php?t=24546) as for plugins you should be aware which you have installed, if not just check your Plugins option in Tools.

One thing is that my Firefox HAS been acting funny recently. One example is that I can't use Mibbit on it, as no messages that I type in will be sent. I've been using Chrome as a backup for whenever I find a site that mysteriously doesn't work.

I assume you've tried reinstalling your Firefox? That's a really odd error, never encountered that with it myself...

I've had a similar but not quite the same problem. Instead of logging me out, it suddenly just marks the entire forum read. Not sure if this can be attributed to this problem or not, but it's something I've encountered.

That's an issue with how Fakku handles mark read, I think, Jacob & I spoke of it once. If it's what I'm thinking of it will probably be corrected some day xD

Basically when you leave Fakku, it shows posts since your last visit, so if you came here and there were new posts, but you didn't read them all then returned a bit later all those posts would be marked read...

Possible it's happening without you leaving, as well though.. Just speculation though, could be wrong.

For me it only marks everything read whenever I get 'Logged Out'.

@Tranquility and windknight111: no, that's common. My case is that I'm browsing FAKKU! forums, I go back a page and WHAM!, everything's all read. Has nothing to do with logging out, and I'm still logged in, just that everything's been read which isn't true.

Hmm... Now that I think about it, that might have happened to me once. But the constant logging out is more common.

Yea I know g-money, I was saying that, the way Fakku handles marked read is like that, so it's possible that it's related to the logging out issue, something with your last visit date being incorrect

but again that is just speculation, can't really say, I'm still stumped with this logout issue...

The only other thing I can think of that we've not touched on is how Fakku handles sessions (I think it's based on 3 blocks of an ip address) so in cases of shared address (some countries do it) that could possibly be causing it among other things relating to the loss of sessions...hm

This just happened to me. First time it happened. I was going through some threads and about 3 minutes later (after I logged in) I noticed the quote and report functions weren't in each post. That's when I noticed it had logged out. (ps: I'm using firefox too)

Okay, the problem related to the New Post thing I mentioned is getting more annoying. It is happening more frequently where all Forums will be marked as read without my consent, and once again my random logout is happening again. Not sure if they are related or not, but it is starting to really get on my nerves the past several hours.

Yeah, I can imagine, sadly it's hard to fix a problem if you don't know the cause...

So far the only thing we've been able to find as a common factor between those it's happening to is that the all use Firefox...

Hm...I'm pretty sure it has to be something related to cookies, as both of those things are handled by cookies...

It'd be really helpful if one of you could trial run another browser and see if it happens there as well, just so we can pinpoint as to whether or not it is the browser causing it..

May take a few days to find out or not, but I'll start visiting Fakku through Opera.

Just as a fun update, I was just forcibly logged out not once, not twice, but THREE times during the last five minutes! =D

I got logged out 5 times within the past 10 minutes which is really fucking strange cause i was editting my profile and checking the forums :?
