Sub-forum Suggestion: Role-Playing

Hello, I was wondering on the plausibility of creating a Role-playing section within the Writing section, or perhaps its own. I was actually surprised that it didn't exist and hoped I could help plant it down for the Fakku community to enjoy. I'd be more than willing to aid in this and take care of it as I co-run a video game fan-site forum's role-playing sub-section and thus have experiences in handling one, though that's perfectly fine if someone else is more than capable of handling it, or no one even. I only had an inquiry or two should it follow-through:

Role-playing can be what you make it and it can be run well in any rating. However, because it will be on Fakku where the community is honestly and fantastically comprised of Hentai fans, there's gonna be a lot of sexual tension between characters and people may want to act out sexual scenes. I understand after reading the rules that cybering is not allowed at Fakku and want to double check if there is no way those scenes would be acceptable. If not, not a problem, as they can be carried to PM should they arise. I only ask to double check because lemons are allowed in the Writing section and they are arguably "multi-player lemons," if you will.

I'm not terribly positive, but I don't think Jacob is fond of the idea of people cybering on Fakku. It happened awhile ago in IB, and things didn't turn out well. Normal role-playing will inevitably turn sexual on a site such as Fakku.

Plus I could see it getting trolled on a regular basis. There are dedicated, policed RPing sites for this very reason.

But I dunno. If you could prove the demand is there, and get some experienced members on side to help co-ordinate the thing, maybe it could be trialled.

I definitely think it's worth at least a trial run. Could have some D&D or other campaigns going as to avoid the cybering. And, like you said, if a person wants to cyber with someone else, they can do it via PM or somewhere else.

Why the hell would people cyber on a public forum (to be ridiculed for it ever after) is beyond me... (and even if they did it in some fashion, so what, this site's already 18+, so what the heck?)

We (me and a couple of other D&D players) are about to start a Shadowrun game anyway. I'll post the thread in a couple of days.

Bad idea, it would get trolled horribly. I know this because I would be the one doing it. Cybering on an open forum just screams trolling opportunity.

alright boys and girls, he knows cybering wont fly here now, he also wanted to know what you think about an rp section of the forums, how about we stop focusing on half of his post and answer the other half.

p.s. as others have said cybering is and always will be a no go here on fakku.

Would it be ok to put this kind of role-playing thread in the "forum game" section?

There's been some RP thread in the chat section.

The problem is, because RPs tend to have quite a bit of time between posts, while the chat threads get more than 1 post a second sometimes. The RP threads would be gone within an hour.

Pretty much what's already been said, It could be really cool to the people who would use it and really enjoy RP, but the mods would have to be pretty strict to keep the "Gary Oak Girth" trolling to a min, So if you can convince people it would be worth the effort ,or since you nominated yourself as the monitor, if you could convince Jacob and Co. that you would be able and willing to put in that effort, then maybe it would be cool.

Also, I'm curious as to why Fakku, an adult website, would be adamant against Cybering, whilst simultaneously promoting the writing of lemons. Was there some sort of bad situation in the past that led to this, or just some sort of principle?

Why don't you make a thread in the Writing section or something? Try to get a game going and see if you can get this to work. I'm personally for RPing threads, but as mentioned above, trolling would be a problem. Set some rules down like; no memes, staying on topic, a minimum post length, etc, and see if it goes well.

there has been issues in the past, it's just when people really cyber it's a private act; or should be. It's the same concept as regular sex, there are laws against public indecency because most people don't want to see you get your d wet, the law doesn't just exist for children.

As I said in my last post, any RPing section would get trolled relentlessly, even if it isn't cybering. Plus, this kind of crap already goes on in the cafe. And I'm sure most of us have seen the kind of hate the cafe generates. Just saying, this is a bad idea.

well I don't see the bad part of the idea if we can ensure strict moderation; which would require the right moderator. Someone like Tegumi(she would have to avoid trolling as well) would probably do BUT she most likely would not want to do it and alternatives aren't really plausible right now. At least not with our current staff.

Unfortunately, most of the people mature enough to strictly moderate such a section probably wouldn't want the job. It would definitely be one of the most taxing moderation jobs, as it would probably be constantly active. Much like the ct;fg subforum in general. Hell, it may even require two mods in different time zones just to keep it under control. That, of course, is only if you really do want strict moderation like the section requires.

You're right though, there isn't really a bad part to this idea. To me, it just seems like a lot more effort than its worth. Seeing as how RPing opportunities are already so openly available in the ct;fg section.
