I'm more against the idea of getting rid of it completely in those sections, so why not make it so that you can only rep things in IB/Random once a week/month?
Ex1.
+rep someone in Writing & Lemons
next day, you can +/- rep anything, still
Ex2.
-rep someone in Random
next day, you can +/- rep anything that isn't in IB/Random
next week, you can +/- rep anything.
Ex3.
-rep someone in IB
next day, +/- rep anything except IB/Random
next month, +/- rep anything.
It'll really make people wonder if their +/- rep is worth it. Also, if they just derep someone because they don't like them, then they can just find any post they make and derep them for it.
Way too complicated. lol

Making it impossible to +/- rep someone in a subsection will only deter those who just don't care at all or have amazingly short attention spans
Those are the type of people I'm aiming at with this suggestion of mine.

I can assure you that this works for people who like to -rep as well since I myself am still receiving -rep for no friggin reason on amazingly old posts.
Posts in IB, that is.

Yes, the rep system is broken. No, half assed solutions won't fix the problem, they'll just make it worse. The only good options are to just turn rep off entirely or to actually have a (or multiple) staff members monitor or at least listen to and fix abuses of the system. Really how hard would it be to appoint someone as "rep fixer" and give them unlimited rep giving/taking points and have them respond sometime within a week to everyone's rep complaints? Anyone who manages to do the job once a month would probably suffice, so the Admins wouldn't even have to pick someone who even shows up daily. (Bonus incentive for Jacob: Then you wouldn't have to listen to people's complaints about rep...well aside from how that person did their job.)
These suggestions have been made before and they didn't get granted. I see no reason to talk about this again...

Besides, didnt Jacob said something to the effect of him banning anyone who continued complaining about reps?
It was also said that nothing said in IB can be taken seriously.

And no, no everyone wants the rep gone, only whiners like you people. I for one like it how it is. I really think is not the rep system that is broken, but you people that misunderstand it.
Whiners? I hardly see how offering a suggestion to improve our community is anything to be ashamed of. Also, while it's true there are no set rules on how to use Rep, drama spans from Rep as Mibu says. That's probably due to this majority of FAKKU being as immature as they are. However these people mostly only hang out in IB anyway so by disabling Rep there, the drama can be taken care of.

IIRC there was never a rule about which cases were acceptable for rep giving, in which werent. As long as you dont abuse the system (give rep to yourself in some way) all goes.
Well luckily for you there isn't anyone abusing the system in that way right now. Jake dealt the punishments not so long ago.
