I'm just gonna point out the part which I don't agree with.

i didn't say he didn't care about the bombing. it's more that he seemed to take a "holier than thou" stance which i cannot stand.
I'm pretty sure he in his heart of hearts doesn't really care about those people either.
This is what I hate about people (including myself). ASSUMPTIONS!
No, he's not. I went to school with him for 5 years, and that is just not his character. Why am I defending him so much? Because I do know him, and you don't. Inb4 he's my friend so I'm defending him, no.

and people throw condolences because these things don't happen very often. drone strikes and children starving happens so much that people have sort have become numb to it.
Drone strikes and children died being shot by soldiers and you become numb to it? Thousand times I've heard this and I still do feel sorry for the innocents, even though I don't go further than that.

If you ask him he'll probably say he really does care. But if you really think about it, why would he? Obviously it would make you look bad if you said that you didn't, but nobody can really say for sure that they do.
Because he is a muslim, and muslims do treat other muslims treat each other like families. He's a damn good example of one, whereas I am on the other side of the world, the worst you can imagine.

i don't mind him bringing up huge world issues like that. however i do mind him bringing up those issues to take that kind of stance as if saying "i care about these things so i'm a better person than you"
Can I just ask a question? How can you see it that way? How can you think that he's like
"i care about these things so i'm a better person than you"? Because I personally think the way he phrased that statement is like asking people the reason of the difference in the "condolences" bullshit that's going on because of the Boston bombing.
i don't like arguing (especially on internet forums) so let me just say this.
i'm a damn cynical person and i don't expect much from people. you're right, i don't know him. but i don't think there is anyone really capable of caring whenever someone in the world dies of an unnatural cause. the problem with saying "hey what about this issue" is that it is too easy to bring up another issue and say "hey why didn't you mention this?" like i could reply to the comment about somalian children and say "well what about North Korean children? why didn't you bring that up? don't you care?"
so i don't have anything against your friend. but i don't think saying "hey look at this too" is the right way to go about it.
I don't like arguing over the internet too, this one is just something I 'have' to defend.
That pretty much explains why, well, guess what, not everyone is like you I guess. Some may actually do care sincerely, or maybe some are just worse. Not gonna take this any further, but, the way he said it over was again, asking why the double standards, which is for me personally is perfectly fine, considering he has been in the situation where he lives avoiding drones and shit.
It was fun by the way.
