Law enforcement is usually a tricky subject. Despite there being a lot of noble and compassionate men & women there are a lot of overzealous cops, and them getting plenty of privileges despite their responsibility doesn't help much either.
Too many are ignorant of their limits and the laws in placed to protect civilians and want complete control of a situation leading them to use excessive or unnecessary force. Other things like their complaint attitudes with the war on drugs and counties buying military equipment like armed tanks is also worrisome.
Thankfully I've never really had a "awful" experience with an officer, but when I read things, "
Then you have the indictments handed down by the U.S. attorney here that recently led to criminal convictions against top sheriff’s deputies. The federal government accused them of encouraging the violence. In one case, a deputy beat and pepper sprayed an inmate and then taught other lower-level officers how to write a report covering up the abuse." I can't help be wary. We can all go on about good and bad cops but nothing will be resolved if the systems in place don't change or any change after a tragedy happens.
