and when it did work you pulled them out and blow on them or into the console.

Yeah but updates do have some uses too. It's 50/50.

for a casual gamer who only plays from time to time, doesn't want to spend time updating.
when i get new games they most needed updating
and when i wanted to play i had spent updating them,
where as older system meant i could simple them without having to download updates and install and wait 15 min+ to play a game

Then when you buy a game just pop it in when you have 5 minutes? That way it'll be ready when you do wanna play.

Can do but for someone like it will be just during the console on for updates and turning it back off, which will mean i spend more time updating then actually playing.
now if sony allowed me to stop updates or update after i have played then it would be that much of problem
then i could play then do the update but having me updated just stops me from playing as i will go and start something else while it updates and by then i lost interest in playing.

I just don't see an issue with that. I can turn it on and let it update while on here.
