I don't hate RPGs at all, I think they're incredibly well made story and level wise. I'd just suck at it because I'd constantly be getting killed by all the bosses because I hadn't levelled up enough earlier on, or missing tons of stuff because I didn't bother look in every single location.
I guess this really comes down to the basic design of the game. I quite liked how most of The Old Republic was set up originally in a way where you could choose a path through your current area so that you did all the main and side missions bit by bit without having to worry about missing anything, occasionally picking up a few other missions on the way. With a few missions changed or removed these days it's not quite the same, but on the other hand, the increased exp for the main storyline missions ensures that you don't really even have to do much else (but it helps quite a bit, you'll more likely be overleved nowadays than getting killed due to being too weak). Never had much grinding anyway, though, since unlike other games, the main source of exp there has always been the missions, not killing enemies.
