In reality, i'd use birdshot. Does not leave a lethal damage, but it will bloody hurt. also, repairs are easier then.

Why not use a paint ball gun, bird shot can still kill.
Paint ball gun will only live bruises plus most of the clean up will just need a mop

Paintball will shoot though plaster with ease, leaving bigger hole. Second, its punishment.

wouldn't birdshot do the same as they will have more mass than paintball plus will travel more faster than paintball

its like how 9mm fails to penetrate body armor, but lighter 5,7 does that. Also the amount of propellant, barrel length and shotgun choke all play a part.
