Sexist is defined as an act of something that's done in order to make one gender seem superior to the other, or to make one gender feel inferior. Does this do either of that? No.

Now why would I do something like that Quad? I specifically said I don't like segregation; why would I want to make my own thread which only promotes that? Just so that Haburi's sexist request can be mimicked?

edit: also as my ealier post stated sexism can also relate to the exclusion of one gender, the inability to do something another gender can (voting or practicing medicine).

validity is determined by the person who perceives it. It's valid to you and others, it's not to me and others.

that is untrue, validity is determined by whether a point is true or logical, whether it makes sense or not. A feeling on the other hand is different.

Whoa, whoa. I thought this was a facetious thread. I didn't really think we were going to block anyone out. When I find the thread where we made up this silly idea, I can prove that maybe this went too far. When I seconded this club, I even wrote that it was okay if men could join, as long as they cross-dressed, but of course, this was a fun statement.

I really just wanted to connect with the females of the group, hit on them a little bit, and do real talking on Facebook or some other medium if I liked them and they liked me. My boyfriend is more comfortable with me being on Fakku this way. Even with the proliferation of pages, I didn't see trolling a problem, white-knighting a problem, guys posing as girls (because it's sad/funny), or any of that. It's not like edibleghost was going to go and hunt a real female down or anything and sepias was just trying to assert himself, too. Who cares? There was no formal topic at hand, so anything is fair game, right?

Okay, let me correct that. The validity is determined by the decision that your fact is true/logical, which it may not seem to others. Which is why we have arguements.

If you said "This thread is being sexist. My opinion is valid, therefore true and logical.", You aren't making much sense. True, your logical opinion is valid, but a valid opinion isn't always logical. Just because you see it as sexist, doesn't mean everyone else does. Just because you see your opinion as true, doesn't mean everyone else does.

Opinion is irrelevant. The fact is that this thread excludes men, discriminating against them on the basis of their gender. Regardless of intention, this is irrefutable fact. Because it discriminates based on gender, it is sexist (just like if a thread discriminated based on race, it would be racist).

Hence, why Haburi said men can join as long as they cross-dress, but I didn't think it would be serious. I know a lot of girls aren't comfortable with posting pictures of themselves up here, and to make a guy do it to prove that he cross dresses would be a double standard. Something must have been lost in communication, and I don't think it's really a problem as long as we can clear it up.

Yeah, this IB thread moved from IB into Serious Discussion really fast, with all these ethics being battled over and such. Not that I mind. It's a great read. I actually appreciate what's going on here, but I just don't want people cutting into each other or singling each other out over something that was meant to be harmless and all-inclusive. Things just got confused, that's all.
