well, the way your original post was phrased certainly was a sob story; "woe is me, I'm not the only man in her life". Being "concerned" as you call it can be considered "sobbing" instead of taking action.

Now i'm gonna let you in on a secret as well, the signals you mentioned, the fact she makes time for you and laughs at your bad jokes, all of it might just be the way she is; some girls like to collect guys(just as males like to collect girls).

I don't know the situation, I'm not there, seeing what you're seeing so the best judgement of the situation will be yours but remember that emotion can cloud that judgement so try to sit back and look at it rationally.
