Good job killing yourselves.
Good job being a creep who masturbates to fictional characters.
Jokes aside, every smoker hears that far too often, you just end up making yourself look like a douche by stating something like that.
It was a joke, even though it really is bad for your health. As for the two testimonials above mine, not every smoker is that lucky. You're more likely to die early or at the very least suffer some major health problems if you pick up the habit.
The reason there is such a difference between previous generations and current generations in deaths caused by smoking-related diseases is because a larger portion of people from previous generations worked labor oriented jobs and a maintained a healthier diet, overall a healthier life-style.
While it is true that smokers do have an increased risk of vascular and lung-related diseases, smoking is usually not the only thing involved, there is more often than not many compounded factors at play. Unfortunately when health reports make claims related to the effects of smoking you don't get to see all of the other data acquired from patients to go along with it.
Obviously it's still detrimental to your health and starting should be avoided if it can, but for those that do start as long as they don't smoke more than half a pack per day and maintain a healthy life-style they can drastically reduce the harmful effects of smoking and the risk of major health problems earlier on in life. You can't nullify them, but you can reduce them simply by leading a healthy life-style and believe me doing that is much, much easier than quitting.
