The military academy(ADFA) is meant mainly for training direct entry officers which are people who enlist straight away with the rank of 2LT(lowest CO rank). I didn't graduate from this because I prefer to work my way up from the bottom, although with that you're stuck in there for about 2-3 years studying before you finally graduate as an officer I believe.
I'm actually the first in my family to have military background so I hope if I ever get a kid, they might continue that one. Unlikely that I'd get one though but option's always open.
Reservists can be as formidable as full service military, Valkyria Chronicles shows that in an extreme manner. I think the idea of reserves is excellent personally, gives civvies a taste of military without them having to commit and is always good to have an auxiliary force so we don't have to worry about being conservative with our main forces(though my country still is).

Hmm, I think it still depends on the training. We were only trained of the basic stuffs. Ahem~ Anyway, I wonder if I can get to learn Pekiti Tirsia Kali if I joined the military. I am sure they don't teach those to ordinary folks.
