My dreams.....shattered into pieces

Well that sucks. I didn't do too well in my last year of highschool, so I had to be more realistic with what college I apply to. Hopefully your little detour from your original objective will eventually steer you back on track.

If time is money and money is time then this person is actually quite rich; they have the rest of their life to realize their dreams. Some, most dreams maybe, seem impossible because we look at the larger picture instead of what is right in front of us. I'm sure Eric Clapton never thought he'd be considered one of the greatest guitar players in the world when he was a child, I bet you Charlie Chaplin didn't think he'd one day be considered a legendary screen actor when he was being beat by his father or when his mother went insane. To say that we delude ourselves into thinking our dreams are impossible or that we need money to realize them is in itself an actual delusion because every day dreams are accomplished and it happens right in front of our faces with or without money (but never without time).

Don't feel bad OP, at least you're going somewhere.

The degree is just to get you into the door of a good job, as stated above a shit degree + internship will lead to bigger things. The only two professions which really care about where you went are medical and law.

That sucks, I am sorry to hear that. I hated it when I got scores on tests like 98/100 (which was pretty common). Usually I would prefer to get an 82/100. To be so close and fail hurts more than being far off and fail.

Sorry to hear abut that man, that sucks. No sense on dwelling over the past though, you just have to take what you are given and run with it. I'm sure things will work out in the end as long as you continue to work hard.

You implied the fault was wholly with him, and called him 'lazy', implying you were certain that his not getting into any of the places he applied to was due to him not trying hard enough, ever. You also made more than one reply with much of the same point. O_o It seemed excessive to me, sort of like 'HA, loser'. We can all do more than we are to get what/where we want, but when we don't... it's not always 100% because we 'didn't ___ hard enough'. Just sayin', I don't even know you and if you mad the same thread, I'd have said the same thing - sorry it didn't work out, better luck next time, you'll get it eventually.

And yes, it's usually because people don't "___" hard enough, everything else are just excuses. Of course it's up to the individual to decide if they consider that excuse to be good enough though.

I'm not nice, I just don't make it a habit to be an asshole for no feasible reason.

I'm sorry you feel that way, it must be nice to live in a world where every outcome is directly influenced by your effort.

Must be nice to be able to blame your surroundings for your own shortcomings.

edit: Also it is as Chlor said, you can't blame anyone/thing on what happens to your life especially when you are an adult. Not passing ones exams is no ones fault but the person who is taking the test. If you are so easily distracted by outside influences than you should remove those influences from your life for a time being.

Study more next time you attempt it.

FYI, I did not fail my first try.
I passed with flying colours for other subjects than English, but, the only course I could get into last year were Engineering courses.
As many of the peeps here knew, I wanted to do Accounting, hence, me repeating year 12

To be fair, saying how he feels isnt "no feasible reason", it's a very good reason.

He has a point as well, this problem does seem to be entirely on him. I have no one to blame for the fact that I didn't study hard enough in senior year, someone lying/sure coating it wont change the fact either.

He posted this is IB as well, opening himself up to all manor of criticism. He should have posted in the chat section if he wanted hand jobs for heart ache.

I don't blame anyone for my barely-pass grade.
I am just irritated on how hard I've worked and studied for this and what I achieved.
I also hate the fact that people assume I repeated year 12 (not entirely their fault, since I never told them WHY I decided to repeat year 12) because I failed year 12. No, that is not the case.

I do need criticism so I can move on too, or else I would've posted this thread on CTFG

That's good, my comment was directed at someone who thought people were being mean and it was unnecessary.

I feel for you, because I too did bad on one subject in high school and it hurts my transcript when applying for college, but at the same time, do not feel bad for not being able to go to a good university. You can always transfer to a different college/university after a year or 2 after attending at one. I went to University of Massachusetts Amherst for a year and applied again for Northeastern University, which I got accepted at the end.

Don't let whichever school you are going to brings you down, because after a year of so, no one will care about your high school grade.

He explained his situation, so yeah.. 'lollazyfag' was unnecessary. I could see it being called for if his story went something like 'Procrastinated on studying, so I failed'.. but that wasn't the case. He studied and failed anyway.

Also, it wasn't a hand job for a heartache. Failing sucks, a friendly cheer-up-mate is nice, don't make this something it's not. O_o It shouldn't be frowned upon that I prefer to lighten the misery rather than add to it.

He studied hard [which has been established] but he failed anyway, so he's bummed. Really trying to see what's wrong with someone trying to cheer him up.
