There's always a bigger fish.

I find the phrase "there's always someone better than you." to be quite questionable. For, going by that logic, that means that there is always someone better than another; meaning that there is never anyone who is the best at something.That one person who excels at something, is not the best at that thing, for there is someone better. And then someone is ahead of them, and so on and so forth. It doesn't make sense to me to say that "there's always someone better than you.".

Person A. runs fast
Person B. is better than Person A. at running.
Person C. is better than Person B. at running, who is better than Person A.
Person D. is better than Person C. at running, who is better than Person B., who is better than Person A.
Etc.
