Same. For me, when I go out, I am reminded that I have a body, with features that I don't like (not that their bad but they make me stand out), so hoodies are a means to hide myself behind. (I don't like attention in which I don't have have knowledge or influence over.)

Navigating the confusing and difficult social requirements is quite difficult, especially when it can vary in scale from person-to-person. I am not unfamiliar to this scenario, I have shown concern for strangers before to often result in evil eye or fear (due to intimidating appearances and/or poor choice of words, not good speaking person-to-person without a certain level of comfortability), to the point that I can't take the looks anymore and simply don't bother unless I am legitimately concern for well being (of a child for instance).
