Mass Effect 3 was one of their most successful titles in 2012,
I think you missed the point of the statement. I didn't say it did financial bad.
I didn't miss your point, it is entirely reasonable to believe that an increase in unit sales also means that people enjoyed the game more. My reasoning is further backed up by the fact that Dragon Age II did significantly worse than it's predecessor because simply put, it just wasn't as good a game and less people & critics recommended that it should be bought and gave it lower ratings. The opposite is true for Mass Effect 3. This shows that there is definitely a correlation between the financial success of a game and quality of game-play as viewed by the general masses.

You also avoided my point. YOU BLAMED THE DEVS, even though it was EA's decision to implement these measures in the first place. Also EA should know by know the anti-piracy only hurts already existing consumers and turns away new customers because of such horrible decisions.
Piracy will always exist, and treating your costumers like shit will make people crack your game out of spite, even if they don't care about playing your game.
I did not avoid your point, you stated that the fuck up was the fault of EA for wanting it implemented in the first place and I disagreed stating that it was the fault of the developers for their poor implementation. Edit 2: By the way, this wasn't the sole problem with SimCity, the other major problem was that the multi-player mode simply did not work for many people even if the DRM method worked successfully, this is clearly the fault of the developer. There are also other game play implementations that are receiving a lot of flak as well.

EA should know this by now but guess what, so should
every other major publisher. It's fairly clear none of them give a fuck about losing a few customers, so long as people continue trying to pirate their games they will continue to request that developers implement new and more advanced DRM methods. Just because there are always going to be some people that rob gas stations does that mean cameras shouldn't be put in place in order to deter them? Even though it may make some customers feel uncomfortable? Edit: There are better analogies I could have used and this one clearly wasn't the best, but it does make a valid point.
