So... I just watched this anime called Ojisan no Lamp. It was so satisfying that it felt so wrong for me to not write on it, especially because it's only one episode, leaving me little to remember it by.
So... this anime talks about change. How one, when have little else to lose, embraces change very readily for a better future. The boy wanted to bring light to his village. After giving it his all, he succeeded in doing so. His childhood dream was fulfilled, and he lived enjoying what his success allowed him.
Until... the inevitable force of change swept over him. A new and superior light was becoming more popular. Against that force was him, the one who benefited most from the old light. Naturally he tried to resist the change. By embracing it he would lose everything that brought him that far. He spread false rumors in his effort to sway the people's minds. But that wasn't enough. He alone could not prevent the spread of the new Idea, for it was beyond him to prevent people from embracing it.
He was so desperate to resist the change. He tried to do the unforgivable. But he failed because the equipment he brought was the old one. That was when he remembered the reason why that light seemed so beautiful to him as a boy. The dream that used to be his driving force, buried deep within his heart by the success he obtained, resurfaced in his mind. He simply yearned for a better future. He simply wanted the world around him to change for the better. He realized that by resisting the superior new light... he was denying the great love he felt that day.
Change is inevitable. That is why we should always embrace it... and strive for the better.
Oh yes, thanks for the person who recommended it to me. I took so long to muster the motivation to watch it... but I'm really glad I did. ^^
