So long, Data.
So I just read about somebody who patented a wonderful idea for firearm safety. The title reads:
Methods and Systems for Detecting a Gun and/or Bullet Within One’s Vicinity Via an Electronic Device and Connecting to a Social Network
If the title wasn't already ridiculous enough. . . well, just look it up yourself.
What the plat is this kind of BS. This is even worse kind of nuts than "smart" gun... -.-
And much more expensive to implement. Funding R&D for a transmitter that can be fitted into a bullet, making it 'cost-effective' to produce as well as enforcing the installation of such transmitters into firearms and ammunition including ones that are home reloaded. List goes on and in the end, you wouldn't really be that better off with it.
Not that it would ever become reality in the first place. The serialized firing pin seems like a more feasible idea than this but still that one is also a bad way to go.
