So being a youkai is now genetic? Meaning that Medicine must have had genes when she was a legit doll and that she was the result of a youkai and a doll mating and the said doll has genes as well, and on top of that, dominant over youkai traits?

Her magical ability might have come from her bloodline alone. It's been known that the Hakurei knew magic at the start of the great barrier's creation, as they have helped in its creation along with Yukari, the Dragon and other youkai. Their magic may have been endowed upon them by the dragon, but it doesn't seem as if Rinnosuke was around then.

He may have, but there is no definite proof, and therefore cannot be a fact.

And fanon may comprise a majority of Touhou, but Touhou started out as canon. Fanon cannot ALWAYS become fact. That would be like accepting that Sakuya was both an orphan rescued by Remilia (with her magician father) from ghouls and came from a vampire-slaying family and was beaten, therefore giving Remilia rights over her.

Speculating is nice and all, but there should be a limit onto when speculations can be stated as truth.

What is a 'fact' in Touhou anyway ?

This (Reimu Rinnosuke matter) and that ( Sakuya Remi matter) are totally different and something like fans theory/assumption will always be something worth debating for.

Also I am quite sure that you already know this, but it doesn't hurt to state it again. Medicine is a doll who being abandoned by her owner. You cannot use her as an example for the genetic matter.

Exactly. Touhou is a world where the line between fact and opinion are blurred. However, there is still a line between fact, and speculation.

And to the Reimu-Rinno and Sakuya-Remi thing just to show that not all fanon can become truth, or more precisely, that not all speculations or theories can be accepted by everyone. This is moreso due to Touhou being majorly composed of fanon. One person can go "Reimu is Rinnosuke's daughter!" but the other would contend "No way man!". Same as "Remi rescued Sakuya from ghouls!" but another would refuse saying "No, she was owned when Remi beat her!". But in that case I have to agree that fan theories and speculations are always something worth debating.

Although I stand at the side that supports neither because I am the type of person that believes in the generally-accepted, most especially if it is backed up by canon-stated events/laws/rules.

And yeah, I know about Medicine. She's just a fun and a good counter to Room's gene argument. But to be quite honest, I don't believe that youkai traits are something recessive and awakens over time. It's simply because it's speculation without basis. Oh and Reimu's powers coming from 'somewhere' isn't a legit basis because it's a common belief that traits are passed down through generations, meaning Reimu may have gotten her powers from an ancestor from before the Great Barrier was created. Of course that is also speculation.

Something about Youkai ?
It was already stated that Youkai potential may come from both non-living and living things. It's already a common belief in japan though. Theory about Marisa and Reimu maybe a youkai partially can be supported by the fact that both aren't aging despite the time range between HRoTP till UFO.

But for your discussion, I guess we can just say that Reimu has talent.

I could. But I can't win :3 I mean I beat them during day 12 but that was when Reimu, Sakuya and Marisa were level 130+ methinks. That's a big gap from Ran and Chen's level XD

The Japanese rarely integrate aging to their artworks unless the aging process took like a decade or so. That is I've rarely seen changes. In Kara no Kyoukai, for example, the only "growth" I saw in Kokoutou was that his face became longer >.> And Shiki's eyes became... smaller?(that the word for it?)

You got the point. Using characters who have the same level with Enemy computer is a plain suicidal act. (except if your characters already reformed several times, which is out of question)

That's because Youkai's aging standard is not the same with human (stating the obvious), and again .. we cannot use another anime-related references as our basis, because like you know, it's .... well, Anime. They can do it as the author's wish. Same things applied with Touhou.
We wouldn't know what factor did affect Reimu and Marisa's abnormal aging, unless stated by ZUN. There are too many possibilities and different references from different sources. But it would be hilarious if ZUN answers "because I want my characters to be loli forever :3".

Obviously Parsee.

Why ? Parsee's danmaku pattern can be memorized easily, though I have to admit that her pattern is quite surprising at the first experience. But same thing cannot be applied to Kogasa's. Her last spell can causes major butthurt to some.

But in terms of difficulty, I find Parsee indeed harder >.> I don't know if it's just me but I find it easier dodging bullets with random trajectories than bullets with fixed ones.

EDIT: Only applies with Kogasa, to be honest. Those rainfall-and-planets danmaku is really easy.

In all seriousness, my preferences are in the polar opposite of yours. Random trajectories tend to be confusing at times, while in fixed pattern, experience can support you entirely. But well, I find the phase when Parsee clone herself and shooting bullets like crazy is ridiculous enough, but after I move to the 3rd stage ... I just realize, that there will be always sky above sky.
