I would say the Girl Friend (GF) is not Yandere or at best a minor Yandere.
On a 1-10 scale I would say Crazy = 0 to 2, Love = 0 to 1, Violence = 2 to 5.
Serious Spoiler follows.
While the GF's actions (Assault and Battery on the main character) could be viewed as crazy in some circumstances, My experience is that most people when viewing through the GF's eyes would say "The bitch had it coming."
The MC (main character) is a known prostitute who sleeps with other high school girl's boyfriends. The GF sees the MC at a park putting her clothes back on, talking to her BF and money being exchanged. The BF later denies having seen the MC and when confronted the MC provokes the GF by saying "I slept with your BF" causing the GF to loose it.
In real life as well as fiction the resulting violence would not be considered insane by most people, and in fact in similar real life situations I have heard people say "The Bitch had it coming" or "If that was my man I would have pounded the skanks head into the curb."
A previous suicide attempt by the GF once again includes mitigating factors of being dumped by the BF after getting her pregnant and an abortion (possibly pushed into it by the BF.) Such circumstances lower the craziness rating of a suicide attempt from "WTF! She's Bat Shit Insane" to "I'm not surprised this happened."
Most of her actions seem more manipulative or vengeful rather then crazy. As an example she threatens suicide if he leaves her, but when he does leave she is seen alive and well with a new BF.
Likewise there is almost no sense of love in her actions and I would suspect her possessiveness and bitterness are more to punish the BF for the past then any real love for him. In fact I don't recall a single loving act she does.
Hope this helps.
Noted. Thank you very much for your comment.

Indeed there is no perfect, perfect would be boring we couldn't think of the disappointments after all negatives last longer than a positive in a state of mind.
A less than perfect character is why we can enjoy different stereotypes, perhaps for me I have an unconscious want to see these character become imperfect I want to see them mess up the more they mess up can be a double-edge sword on one end it can be 'human' on another it could be overused and I hate the character... Or perhaps there is more to it. What about you
Dun broke the cutie a'? A joke but... was it interesting for you personally? Or do you just regret it?
Can a person suffering from a psychotic behavior be selfless though what can one classify a yandere as? What real-world mental problem can you classify a yandere as having?
It always good to experience new things, to give you a better understanding of how things are. Even if those things are bad for other people. So that you can teach or rise in your selected community.
Yes. This is what I meant by breaking the cutie. We never know what really runs in their minds. They may do unexpected things due to their heartbreak or something which I find interesting to watch. Any person can become like that including the other stereotype labels. They may become a yandere or yangire depending on the circumstances. You see, I find it more interesting to have consequences of events rather than none at all. By this, you would really be able to tell the strengths and weaknesses of the characters. Authors make use of challenges and imperfection to draw out the nature of the characters and by doing so makes us (the audience) attached to them.
Okay. I almost got confused here. I thought selflessness is the same as selfishness when in fact they are polar opposite of each other. A yandere always thinks what is best for her and his beloved according to what her beliefs and ideals are. They are all the same in terms of loving someone through their devotion whether or not a character is psychotic to begin with. If you are talking about pure psychotic, it would be fall under yangire then because they are purely insane. In contrast with yandere, they tend to show their love in a crazy way through selflessness (devotion), possessiveness, stalking, and etc.
Nope. Yandere characters do not have a common psychological disorder. The author can use any psychological disorders for them to justify and exhibit the yandere traits of a particular character. Though, I personally think depression and anxiety is mostly the lead cause of their psychotic side. Just like what I previously stated, we have our own ways to cope up with our stress and some people resort to violence or crazy stuffs just in order to relieve it.
To tell you honestly, this really occurs in real life. We may think yandere characters are interesting and fun to watch but it truly happens in our society. A wife murdered his husband who she caught red-handed having an affair. A man killed his girlfriend when he found out that she was just ditching him. A big question here is, why does this sort of things happen? As far as I know, it has a correlation with societal problems like poverty.
People are being practical nowadays due to their experience during their childhood. By this, they tend to think what would be best for him and his family. However, some people don't think the same way as he do just like his wife for example. At first, they were a happy couple but their marriage life is gradually falling apart due to the man mostly preoccupied with work. The wife cannot help to be depressed and anxious of not being with her husband which then leads to paranoia of thinking that her husband might be cheating on her. Driven by curiosity, she began to stalk him wherever he go and then she noticed her husband getting a little good happy chat with a woman in his office. Distrust and paranoia tend to overtake her mind because it has been a long time since she last talked with him like that. She even had this idea of infidelity in her husband's part.
One day, the husband came home and his wife greeted him normally. He finds things pretty normal until he suddenly fell asleep after drinking a glass of juice given to him by his wife. When the husband woke up, he just saw his hands and feet firmly tied on the railings of the bed. He called his wife upon this realization, and the next thing he knew it, she was smiling with tears falling from her cheeks while wielding a newly sharpened knife on her right-hand. - Then shit happens after that.
That is a made-up story of mine just to give you an example of how societal problems may affect one's state of mind and its causality. This can also serve as answer to your inquiry on the last paragraph. I do not intend to become superior to other people. Of course, I know its necessity in our present state of society. You cannot do anything without resources and fame, so it cannot be helped but to rise yourself through education and practical use of these acquired knowledge for the improvement of the society.
