Hello World!

Greetings and salutations!! I've been lurking for a while in the forums before I decided to make an account (which I then ignored for a while :P )

Here are some facts about myself:

- I first discovered Fakku way back while browsing for Haruhi translated doujins and hentai, then I realised there's an awesome forums section.

- Hobbies include Anime, Video games, Football (soccer, sorry american football fans), playing the drums.

- I think Watanabe Mayu is the cutest Japanese girl ever (besides Horikita Maki).

- I'm 21 this year and I'm a guy.

- I'm quite reserved in real life, but easy-going and laidback. People wouldn't expect me to be into Japanese culture or animation.

- My dream is to one day visit Japan (or go to space, which in all probability is not gonna happen).

Well I'd watched a ton of anime the last few years so it's kinda hard to choose, but if it were a recent anime I would have to say Uchuu Kyoudai (Space Brothers).

Overall the subject matter of the story (astronaut selection programme in Japan), coupled with the themes of (childhood) dreams and aspirations and the realistic tone of the show (the names of JAXA and NASA are officially used in the anime) and the likable slightly older protagonist struck a chord with me.

The pacing of the story (rumoured to be spread over 48+ episodes) and humour are also excellent, IMO.

As for live-action movie, hmmm... Gosh, I can't answer that honestly, if I base it on the amount of impact that a particular movie has on me, well I haven't really found a movie like that honestly..

Haha, you ask the toughest questions man. I really racked my brains for the 2nd part.



Lol. Well I play the drums and I can manage songs from bands like Muse and Paramore (yes, the first time I really listened to Paramore was when my bandmates requested that we play a song by them not too long ago; can't say I enjoyed it.) I don't have a drumset at home, but fortunately I was born with rhythm and acceptable body coordination : )

The songs that they wanna play are not really right up my alley, but I really can't complain cos they play pretty well and we all get along.




YES, Mayuyu from AKB48 is FREAKING CUTE man. I really adore her. The only reason I even follow some of AKB's activities is her, I could care less what happens to the others lol.

Only Horikita Maki could rival her cuteness and prettiness in Japan IMO (but Mayuyu has that cheerful look which gives her the win).

I would give my life savings totalling less than $1K (lol yes pathetic I know)to be with her, but alas the probability of that happening is 0.001%.



I've been playing footie for a long time, as young as when I was 7, but I didn't really got good at it until later in my teenage years.

But by then I joined the Track and Field club in my Secondary School as I knew I ran faster than others in my school. Had a good 4 years representing the school in events, but I still felt a tinge of regret when thinking bout how I passed on the opportunity to join the Football team in the first place in Secondary School.

My favourite team in Inter Milan (or FC Internazionale) FYI. Supported them from when Ibrahimovic joined them up till now (I doubt most wouldn't understand what I'm babbling about lol).



A very well-written piece I must say. I hate our weather and share your pain. And I feel even more so depressed anticipating my eventual enlistment in the mandatory military service. Woe is me. That was an interesting read nonetheless : )

Don't worry about National Service. As long as you do what you are told, meticulous and disciplined enough, you should pull through. When is your enlistment?

Well I still have a lot of medical check-ups to go through so the date's not decided upon yet, but hopefully if all goes well it would be before the end of 2012.

I think I won't have any problems in NS, it's just that to put it bluntly, it's a waste of a good 2 years of a young adult's life : (

Awww... Don't say that. I have made good friends and learnt more about the working environment in those 2 years. Not to mention being able to explore Tekong.

I have worked on Tekong as a clerk for 2 years. I can give you an overview of how training would be like. But first I have to ascertain which type of batch will you be in. Is it the one 4 months long or the 2 months long?

Considering that I am going for numerous follow up check-ups and from what the doctors have told me, I am very likely to get a grade of PES C or lower. Which means I probably will be in the 2 months long BMT batch (if I am enlisted with the SAF that is) and then become a clerk or worse, a storeman.

But you don't have to trouble yourself to give me an overview leonard, I guess I will just learn to persevere and endure those 2 years. Besides I already have an older brother currently serving his NS now (as a medic though), so I kinda get an idea of what constitutes NS life : )

Anyway, I once met a full-time NSman in the police force who studied for his double degree part-time as he was posted to a job which allowed him to knock off at 6.30pm everyday (he studies after work).

Maybe I will do the same and serve NS while studying part-time, so that I gain something out of that 2 years while my life is effectively in limbo lol.

But I would hate to be a clerk in Tekong though. Are you even allowed to go home everyday like a normal full-time NSman clerk?
