Anyone a fan of Dir En Grey? o_o

I saw one of his live videos where he hooked himself, it looked real to me.



Lmao, same here I was listening to The Deeper Vileness and I googled the lyrics and guess what? The entire song is in English. You can pretty much hear him speak in Engrish after you read the lyrics, just gotta listen closely, haha.



I thought the video for Obscure was beautiful, in a sense of the point they were trying to get across. And The Final was one of the songs that stood out in the album which is what I like about it.

The new Glass Skin single is pretty good, I can have that song on repeat, but I want to see what else they have to offer in their upcoming album.

I went to the Dir En Grey concert in Boston on the 12th. It was fucking awesome. The Human Abstract, the band that opened up for Diru aren't that bad either. When the show was supposedly over the crowd chanted "Dir En Grey / Encore" and they came back to play not one but about five more songs. That concert will be a night I will never forget. I wanted to stay after to get my CD signed but I couldn't bare to wait around and had to go, and the T-shirts were around $30 bucks, I just had to get one even if it was expensive.

Too bad I didn't bring my camera, just my luck. The venue said cameras weren't allowed so I just left it at home, but as soon as the show started people pulled out their cameras T_T. I recorded about 20 videos on my phone, but just my luck again it didn't record the audio and the quality was bad, fuck. :(
Other than that my experience at a DeG concert was superb.

A friend of mine (who's big into Japanese music, and music in general) said that Japanese bands that are popular in America tend to be disliked, or not very popular, in Japan. He gave Puffy Ami Yumi and Dir En Grey as examples.

Is this true? I don't follow what's popular in Japan, but I haven't heard any opening or closing songs by Dir En Grey except that one from Fullmetal Alchemist. A lot of the popular Japanese bands I've heard about have at least two songs used in anime series.

I'm not sure about other Japanese bands since I only listen to a few, but as for DeG I think they're pretty popular in Japan. They have performed in the Osaka-jō Hall (a very prominent place for international music performances) during the 90s and soon again in December. In their touring DVDs their shows are really packed and their sales in Japan are pretty strong so I wouldn't say they're disliked in Japan and that justifies it. But as for other Japanese bands I don't know. 8)

Well, my friend wasn't exactly saying that Japanese bands liked in America are disliked in their home country. He was saying that once a Japanese band becomes popular in America, the band usually loses popularity in Japan. But if Dir En Grey is going to perform in the Osaka-jō Hall soon, I guess that means my friend wasn't 100% right.
