No....since the word is just a term used to refer to people with obsessive interests, particularly in anime, manga, video games, etc...

Never been called 'otaku' to my memory. I've been called a weeaboo, and I usually say, 'we all are'. Someone call me otaku and I'll tell you me deepest emotions on the subject..

I wouldn't be mad if others called me an otaku. In fact, I would like to hear their views on the subject of "otaku" since it can be a widely applied term, ranging from sports all the way to anime, manga and hentai.

most of my friend associated anime with cartoons. Therefore calling me Childdish.
However at school we had to go in front and talk about our favorite subject. First was anime in general. some where interested, others didn't give a damn.
Second was more fun: Hentai. The teacher asked for some sites and he gave me some bonus points XD

I've never been called an otaku before, probably because not many people know I'm into anime.

people subjecting nerds to ridicule is sooooo grade school. seriously though, when somebody is enlightened to the fact that im an otaku nowadays its more of a 'meh' response, as if theyre alright with associating themselves with me but still dont want anything to do with the hobby itself.

we have one of the most unique opinions in the world, you and i. it might be easily discriminated against but its only because the majority of the world just cant grasp the appeal of anime or its clothes-less counterpart. be proud of your hobbies and what you enjoy, and especially the way you express your passion for these hobbies.
