Ever heard of
VOTOMS? How about Chirico Cuvie's rough but elegant handling of his very rough but potent Scope Dog? The kind I speak about when he finally
faces down Ypsillon, or even better the part where he undergoes the Red Shoulder admission trial in "Roots of Ambition".
How about the choreography in
Bubblegum Crisis? That OVA still has some of the best drawn action scenes with tight camera work that just draws you in.
One of my oldie, but goldie favorite OVAs,
Detonator Orgun is good example. Everything in that piece is low budget. Hey, even the plot and characterization is so old-fashioned that you feel embarrassed for it. Still with some clever camera work and the willingness to use cheap camera and lighting effects to its best they transformed that anime into one of the most kinetic viewing experiences I'd ever seen. Top it off with some solid designs, Susumu Hirasawa's music and you have a solid piece that while very old-fashioned was still a piece that advanced animation.
do you know where to watch these three animes online? cant seem to find the site that streams Votoms in jap with english subs.
