Buying Loli on eBay - illegal or not?

A friend of mine and I found a Kodomo no Jikan poster (see my avatar) that he's actually considering buying - Is this illegal? I honestly have no idea (the poster is double sided, and the other side isn't loli at all.) So this is why I'm asking.

On that same note - Is buying a Kodomo no Jikan doujin just as bad? If this stuff is illegal, he isn't touching it.

Owning loli isn't illegel in the USA as far as I know so you should be ok.

I could've sworn some guy got arrested a few years ago for having it on his computer, so I was asking if buying it was legal or not. If so, he's probably buying the poster.

Ebay has cracked down on its site. You can't buy body parts and children on there anymore.

I don't think a precedent has been set for something like this. I think in the case you (might) be referring to, the person also had other stuff like child porn. I think there's been plenty of people who imported the manga who haven't gotten into trouble, so I don't see why the poster would. A Kodomo no Jikan doujin would be a much more "dangerous" thing to handle since most doujins are sexually explicit, while the poster just features partial nudity. Still, it's not a very "safe" thing to have, so if your friend is worried about it, I wouldn't recommend him getting it.

No it's fine dude loli isn't illegal in the U.S so your "friend" can buy it and not need to worry. The only countries to make loli Illegal are Canada, The Philippines, South Africa, and I believe Sweden.

But in the U.S the supreme court says it's protected by the first amendment. As it should be!

I think it is illegal here. But in respects to that poster, I think it is legal because some might not consider it "obscene" enough to be illegal because if I remember correctly, loli is fine just as long as they aren't engaged in "obscene" sexual acts. (The problem is defining "obscene" though as different people have different opinions)

It is completely legal. The man who was arrested sent explicit emails to children, had child porn on his computer, etc. The media just made it out that he was in trouble for the loli, when in reality he wasn't.

Yeah, when the article mentioned the "Anime child porn" I kind of thought that the Loli contributed to it all also. So buying a doujin is safe?

Weren't there several cases where people were (supposedly) busted for having loli? I know at least one of them did have real child porn on his computer, but I'm not sure about the others. All I remember is that at least one dude got arrested for having loli doujins mailed to him. But he may not have even lived in the US, I'm not sure.

I've heard that not a long time ago some guy in the US got arrested just for having some anime and manga (non-hentai) stuff shipped from Japan. Just some stuff where "childern" were wearing swimsuits, bikini and so on (normal highschool anime/manga).

So what should happen, guys? The poster's being bought, as it doesn't seem THAT risky, and you guys made me think it's safe. The doujin - Yes or No?

Just get the poster, if you end up getting raided by police for a random house to house loli search then say you bought the poster for the image on the reverse side.

It's a very fine line. In the end, you just have to buy at your own discretion. A lot of people would say that image is fine because there are no nipples or genitalia being shown, but the lewd and socially unacceptable acts could be enough to get you into trouble. As it stands in the U.S., the depiction of underage girls is protected under the First Amendment... BUT the obscenity law obscures that upholding, plus all of the other countless loopholes.

i think the guy you're talking about got loli doujins and real child pornography. Is that the guy who got busted because he received them on a computer at a library?



Do anime girls look enough like real girls to qualify? I think if it's pretty apparent at first glance that they're not real or even based on someone real that it can't really be considered a "image that appears to be a minor".
