this is about 9 days old but this confrontation been very interesting, joe rogan confronts carlos mencia that hes a joke thieve at first i didnt agree wit joe but now im persuade.

the worst part about all this is Mencia is throwing what hollywood wait around that he has and got Rogan banned from the Comedy club.

I don't care. As long as Carlos reintroduces the material and makes it funny again then it's good. I could care less if he stole the jokes. I mean if you think about it most jokes that people make are recycled ones but just worded differently.

I mean I'm prettys sure not all the jokes were stolen, he at least made up all of his songs and those are funny as well. Those roleplay videos he makes are also hilarious as well.

Can we get Mencia off the air now? Seriously? If you can't even bother to come up with new material that isn't jokes stolen from other people or recycling racial jokes then don't bother trying. Glad I stopped watching his show a while back.

Oh wow like that proves shit. So what if he did a stereotype Olympics that some DJ group also did. That episode was still humorous. Also I bet Stereotype Olympics is something people have done before like 30 years ago.

Truth is comedy is there to make the viewers feel happy. They want to laugh even if it is something familiar. People hear the same and tell the same jokes all the time. We do this because we want to laugh, and we want to make others laugh as well. People retell teh jokes they hear to others hoping to make their aquaintences feel the same cheer they ahd as well. If you do not like it the so be it. Ignore it and find yourself some otehr comedian to make you laugh. Don't maek a scene and bitch about something you hate, I mean you went to go watch comedy because you want to be entertained. Listen, it's not like you even paid to go to any of his live shows. If you don't like it then switch teh channels or ignore it.

In speaking of comedians, have any of you guys seen Russel Peters before? God I lvoe his stereotype impersonations and acts because they are so true. He expecially loves doing asians and I'm Taiwanese and what he says is so true. The stereotype he uses is usually pretty real facts. I understand what he means and I go rofling my ass off at the experiences I have had too.

i pretty much concour with what everyones saying here, but only to an extent. i agree that if the presentation of old material is funny and well scripted, why not give them the stage? they are entertainers and they fit the role justly. however, if this was not their original material then they should specify as such! its alright to go out there and make people laugh, but give credit where credit is due. im sure mencia has his own jokes thrown in the mix but you gotta be honest in show business or itll come back to bite you in the ass. its a matter of reputation, if your honest chances are your audience will stick around... if your not, it gives them little recourse. same thing happened with dane cook and i personally thought he was a funny son of a bitch, i would still have respected him today if he had implied that some of his material wasnt his.

So you want comedians to add sidenotes when they are doing jokes "So this black man was, oh by the way this joke/stereotype originated from this white guy back in the 1780s back in England..."

it doesnt have to be so specific, the least they could do is say some of it material in the skit was influenced or provided. that, or the general audience finds out the hard way.

I guess that's the nice way of saying that he steals shit, too. Anyway, I agree with GSDAkatsuki. Comedians don't get paid based on originality, they get paid based on 'delivery'.
