Some of Mencia's bits are funny, stolen or otherwise. However, I find his physical mannerisms to be rather annoying, like the weird swinging of the arms or the running in place, so I don't really watch his show much.
Joe Rogan I don't really think of as funny. He was OK on NewsRadio, and he's a decent commentator for UFC.
It's even funnier when Mencia owns himself. Skip to about 6 minutes in for the payoff.
Oh wow like that proves shit. So what if he did a stereotype Olympics that some DJ group also did. That episode was still humorous. Also I bet Stereotype Olympics is something people have done before like 30 years ago.
....Um, okay...
Did you actually listen to the whole thing? He told them almost word-for-word exactly what they heard from the guys down in Florida. Its not like they both came up with the same idea, he lifted it from them almost verbetum. If that's not plagurism I don't know what is.
I don't mind if someone takes an idea that someone else has and runs with it. But straight up stealing someone else's bit, and doing it regularly and making a living off it, is a really really shitty thing. I guess it's because I'm a writer myself, and so I can totally feel for the guys he steals from. But it's ridiculous to just blow it off like it's no big deal, stealing from other people and then making money off it is never right, doesn't matter if it's a material item or their words.
Plus to me, he's just not funny, he's just loud and obnoxious. He's not even a comedian to me, just some guy who spouts off other people's shit about politics and racism and tries to make it obnoxious. To each their own I guess, but I don't see how you can't despise people who make a living off of stealing other people's ideas.

Tough ok. Too bad it's the world alright go QQ some more if you want. People do it all the time and it is natural alright. If you got a problem with it then go try sue, but when you come back getting buttf*cked cuz you lost then don't go looking for people's sympathy. Yeah it feels bad to get your creative ideas taken away from you. The ones you gave life to, the ones that you brought meaning through your full comprehension and thought about. Problem is that once you post it out there will always be people there jsut examine the work and take the credit for themselves.
So you want comedians to add sidenotes when they are doing jokes "So this black man was, oh by the way this joke/stereotype originated from this white guy back in the 1780s back in England..."
Actually, what comedians do is exchange money. I've heard about a lot of comedians buying jokes from one another; it seems to not be an uncommon practice.
But what's really important is that comedians who hit it big aren't supposed to tell jokes that are already out in the world. They're supposed to tell new jokes that people haven't heard before. You never saw George Carlin telling the same knock-knock jokes your Uncle Sal and Grandpa Frank told you. If comedians do tell standard knock-knock or three-priests-walk-into-a-bar jokes, they're stuff the comedian came up with himself, new variations on the jokes.

But if you really dissect all jokes you will always find a connection to similar details to the most basic of an old original.

Here's an idea. Rather than boost jokes from people verbatim how about you take the joke change it around. Then pitch it back at us and for me it would be fine. That shows creativity and in a creative industry you can't just swipe the bit of someone else and act like you came up with it. If you boost a joke from someone, be a man and have the fucking dignity to admit you stole the bit and get it over with.
I guess that's the nice way of saying that he steals shit, too. Anyway, I agree with GSDAkatsuki. Comedians don't get paid based on originality, they get paid based on 'delivery'.
but thats like saying when your expecting a delivery you dont care whats in the package, only that it had a steadfast arrival. influence is one thing, being synonymous is another. fiery penguin is right on the money so rep+ for that bub, comedy is about creativity. if your influenced by another comedian or like a certain bit, you give it your own flavor. what im trying to imply is that the comedians in question dont even attempt at this, they blatantly steal jokes and expect that 'being influenced' covers their tracks. they arent remaking an old classic, theyre sticking a different name on the same content.
